How can online workshops bring expert teaching to your UK school classroom without anyone travelling?

Online workshops stream live interactive sessions on topics like science demos, history storytelling, creative writing, or wellbeing—flexible for any timetable, inclusive for remote or hybrid classes, and packed with engagement to keep pupils focused from their desks.

You and your pupils remain in the classroom, and use remote meeting technologies to experience online teaching sessions. Award winning workshops delivered to your classroom - Spend more time learning and less time travelling

What are the advantages of online workshops for schools?

A visit to a local historic site, or a workshop provider who can bring stories and artifacts into the classroom: both have huge benefits to a child's comprehension of the topic you are teaching. However, both require a good amount of planning and organisation, not to mention the cost for out of school visits. With an interactive online workshop, the time can be used in exactly the same way as it would for a typical school lesson.

We are only just beginning to scratch the surface of how remote working and virtual school workshops can be used to our benefit. Workshop providers are beginning to provide a unique opportunity for school groups to take advantage of digital courses and online lessons, negating geographical distances that would otherwise hinder learning opportunities.

Booking Interactive Online School Workshops

With virtually all young students getting a crash course in remote online or distance learning during the summer term of 2020, the many valuable opportunities for learning and teaching online are clear, and booking an online curriculum linked workshop is simple.

Although schools plan to resume something approaching normal service in September, the knowledge gained and the opportunities glimpsed during 2020 will not be forgotten in a hurry. This page lists providers who can give you access to a range of online curriculum workshops, allowing your students to take advantage of live online lessons and virtual school workshops.

Most online workshop providers use a piece of software called Zoom, an online meeting platform that a lot of us are more familiar with than we were less than a year ago. With the required technology already in place, all you need is an internet connection and a device such as a tablet, laptop computer or interative whiteboard and you can bring a virtual teacher into your classroom to help inspire your students on a whole range of curriculum topics.

How do they work?

While no two virtual workshops are the same, a typical online lesson will last between forty five minutes and one hour. To begin, the facilitator will introducing the lesson material and familiarise the students with the topic. During the workshop, students may be asked questions and encouraged to ask their own questions, and at the end there is often a short quiz or some follow up work to allow the students to see what they have learned from the experience. Please click into each workshop to read how it is set out, and use the short enquiry forms to get in contact with the providers. They are all lovely people, very approachable, and passionate about sharing their knowledge with you and your students!

As traditional workshop providers adjust to this new way of teaching, we will continue adding more subject areas, curriculum topic and themes as and when they become available to book.
