Our workshops include tailored, fully interactive, drama games, role play, teamwork exercises, songs, movement and more, led by a professional costumed actor.
We will explore elements of what it was like to live during the Victorian Era, especially as a Suffragist from the 1890s and debate the changes brought about by The Industrial Revolution and what Queen Victoria thought about Women's Rights!
We explore the tough opposition that was encountered within suffrage societies fighting for equal rights and in particular, women's right's surrounding the vote during this period. We look at the NUWSS Suffragist movement from the 1890s throughout to the Suffragette Movement starting in 1903 to 1928 and beyond.
WWI had a huge impact on the suffragette movement and the success in women's fight to get the vote. We explore this in detail and look at Women's roles during WWI.
Women securing the vote in 1928 was a very important and significant moment in 20th century history. The long and at times, relentless journey to get there is explored in detail during this workshop.
During this workshop we look at important influential figures during the 1890s-1979 that helped, hindered or impacted on the fight to secure equal rights and the vote for women.

★★★★★
"This workshop was absolutely excellent, I couldn't recommend it enough. The actor brought the story of the suffragettes to life in a way which was immersive and fun, but also had really clear learning outcomes. Our students ended up using the call and response (oh dear, what could the matter be...) and the deeds not words chant in their final performance on the Friday. It was clear that the messages had really sunk in and had a profound effect on the children. The actor was so energetic and delivered every section so smoothly. She also did a great job of navigating anachronistic or silly answers from students while staying in character. Thank you so much! Year 6 teacher Tower Bridge Primary,London"

"The bespoke approach of the Drama Hut was fantastic. They were, as a business, incredibly helpful and communicative every step of the way. It was nice to formulate ideas with them for the needs of our school. I would recommend and use The Drama Hut in the future.
