Fab Science Online School Trip

Online Workshop

trip icon Fab Science workshops are really popular in our local area and now we can virtually visit anywhere! We've invested in quality cameras, lighting and backdrops to make an online workshop be just as exciting as a visit to school. The emphasis is still on practical science and we provide lots of ideas for experiments and activities to try at home or in school.

What size groups do we cater for?

Interactive workshops are usually for one or two classes at time but get in touch to discuss what would work best in your school.

How does safeguarding work for online workshops?

We can provide links for a Zoom call that your teachers can access. The call is not recorded and only pre-agreed staff will have access. If you would prefer to use your own Zoom/Teams/Meet account, just send us the link.

What technology/devices/type of internet connection do schools need for an online workshop?

We usually use Zoom but are happy to use any other platform that suits the school. If the school internet connection is unstable, you may prefer to have pre-recorded sessions that can be accessed any time during the week. These can be accompanied by live introductions or Q&A sessions via Zoom. Most sessions are around 30 minutes.

Who are Fab Science?

Fab Science was founded by Emma Ranade; a qualified science teacher, self-confessed geek and highly energetic science communicator.

We offer in-school workshops on a whole range of topics and we have adapted many of these to work online. Choose from Zoom or pre-recorded...or even a combination of both. Many schools have opted for a pre-recorded workshop with live introductions or Q&A sessions for each class.

Our most popular online sessions are the Super Science Show (all of our 'best bits' in one exciting interactive workshop) and Professor Fab's potions class. This is the science of magic and can be presented by a scientist in the virtual Fab Science lab or by Professor Fab in the potions lab...great for sparking literacy ideas as well as science.
