Greek Workshops

The Drama Hut

School Workshop Online Workshop

trip icon Led by the 'Goddess Athena', our professional costumed actor will challenge the children to experience all things Greek! They will play 'Guess the God', work as a team to create pictures of Ancient Greece, bring Greek Myths to life through Greek chorus, take part in the Olympics and so much more! This workshop will give you the WOW factor as in introduction to a subject, will ignite energy in the middle if booked half way through, or help to consolidate learning and present an opportunity to share knowledge at the end of the topic!

Where we travel to

We can visit your school in:

What activities are available during this school workshop?

All of our workshops involve improvisation, role play, singing ( or Greek chorus for Ancient Greeks) and movement all of which are tailored to the chosen topic.

Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

green tick Greeks

Greek life and achievements Religion Trade Politics and Architecture Greek Gods and Mythology

During our Greek workshop the children will meet Athena, the feisty favourite Goddess of Zeus. Athena will bring to life some of the famous myths and legends that existed during this fascinating time and through story telling drama games and activities help the children explore and experience life and work in ancient Greece.

green tick Performing Arts

Our workshops include tailored, fully interactive, drama games, role play, team work exercises, songs, movement and more, led by a professional costumed actor.

What size groups do we cater for?

We typically work with up to 30 children at any one time and can offer special day rates for multiple classes. We are also able to provide two different topics on the same day for different year groups,

How does safeguarding work for online workshops?

Online sessions are jointly hosted by the teacher and our actor and may or may not be recorded, depending on the preference of the school. Ideally workshops take place in a school hall with a large screen, however, they can also work extremely well in a classroom, with desks pushed aside. Our Risk Assessment document is available upon request and is updated regularly to comply with all current advice and guidelines.

What technology/devices/type of internet connection do schools need for an online workshop?

Online workshops are delivered live by professional actors and typically last 60-75 minutes each. They are structured in the same way as an on-site visit and have the advantage of utilising the benefits of technology – in particular, virtual backgrounds, enabling actors to transport children back in time, to any era or location. School will require a good internet connection and ideally a large screen to project our actor on to, so all the children have good visibility.

Access for visitors with disabilities

Yes - the very nature of our workshops being so visual and experiential, has led to extremely positive feedback from teachers

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Children with special educational needs really benefit and enjoy our interactive workshops.

Testimonials:

"The children LOVED acting out the myth King Midas and the Golden Touch. They can still remember it and have used it to help them to write their own Greek myths!
We also had parents evenings on the same week as the workshop and so many parents mentioned that their child could not stop talking about the workshop and how much fun they had there."

Miss Lee
Christ Church Primary School, Shooters Hill

"Teachers and children found it very informative about a lot of different elements of Ancient Greece. It was very engaging and the children enjoyed the drama performance of the myths."

The children truly believed they had been visited by a Greek Goddess. It was fully inclusive throughout both sessions. Our leader, was highly professional and stayed in character throughout.
