The region was the birth place of artists, painters and inventors and of course the Industrial Revolution. There are some fabulous museums dedicated to teaching school children about various aspects of industrial growth. The Ironbridge Gorge museums are a must, whether you are able to take a day trip or a multi-day residential. And you may combine the experience with a visit to nearby Roman Wroxeter with its exceptional Roman ruins.

Study wildlife or biology at places like the RSPB, Field Studies Council, or the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Study citizenship at Shrewsbury historic prison, English at Stratford, or Art and Design at 'the MAD museum'.
