New Earth Theatre School Workshop
We can visit your school in: East Midlands, West Midlands, London & South East, North West, YorkshireOur Creative Cultural Education workshops are a fun and memorable way to learn aspects of Human Geography. Pupils have the opportunity to learn about different countries and cultures throughout East and South East Asia. They will learn the cultural significance of traditional stories and art forms to the indigenous population and how different religious festivals and national holidays are celebrated throughout the continent.
Through our workshops pupils can creatively explore environmental issues that are particularly relevant to ESEA countries such as climate change, overpopulation, deforestation, migration and urbanisation in an age appropriate way.
Immersive and engaging, our workshops for schools aim to bring additional cultural awareness and understanding of East and Southeast Asian culture by drawing on
traditional stories, myths, customs and traditions. New Earth Theatre believes that the arts offer a unique way to engage with one another, they allow us to celebrate our similarities and differences, to explore our feelings and emotions, and ultimately to discover a deeper understanding of our ever-changing global world.
We offer a variety of workshop options from interactive storytelling sessions for Primary School pupils exploring traditional myths and folk tales to Mandarin Through Drama workshops for secondary school pupils as well as music, dance, art and craft sessions.
Our workshops can compliment what pupils are learning in Geography, RE, Music, English, Art or PSHE. As many of our workshops have a performance element pupils develop teamwork, literacy and oracy skills.
All our facilitators and workshop leaders are of East/Southeast Asian descent.
Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world and an increasingly popular choice for pupils who want to study a foreign language as people become more aware of its usefulness for business. Knowing Mandarin is definitely an advantage in today's competitive job market.
We offer Mandarin Through Drama workshops for secondary school pupils which can be tailor made to meet your group's level of language learning from beginner to advanced. Workshops can be a fun and interactive way to revise vocabulary learnt in class and prepare for exams (particularly oral/speaking tests) and exchange trips or a memorable way to learn new vocabulary relating to a particular theme e.g. sports and leisure or shopping.
Pupils develop their literacy and oracy skills as well as confidence using and speaking a foreign language.
