Orienteering Climbing High Ropes Zip Line

We offer tailor made itineraries from our diverse range of adventurous activities including High Ropes, Low Ropes, Rafting, Pizza Making, Den Building, Target Shooting, It's a Knock Out, Quad Bike Trekking and Paintball. A visit to Oaker Wood challenges young people both physically and mentally and encourages them to work as a team. They will have ample opportunity to improve their listening skills and build on their independence while on a residential with us as we encourage young people to be responsible for their own pod area and to help around camp with such tasks as washing up and fire lighting.

Watersports School Trip

Raft Building

Our rafting activities help young people to feel at home near to, on and in the water in a safe and reassuring environment. We teach the young people about potential dangers and ensure they know how to be safe around water.

Wildlife School Trip

Our Woodland Navigation Trail is themed around Orienteering (please note: this is NOT a full Orienteering Experience) children will use maps to Navigate around a woodland trail, whilst following the map they will be looking for items/pictures (wildlife) as they journey through our picturesque trees and forest routes.

Perfect for children in years 3, 4 5, and 6, they'll have the chance to gain countryside and wildlife facts and insights from our instructors as they guide them along the trail. As they explore, children will punch their route card at each Orienteering Checkpoint they visit.

Team Building School Trip

Many of our activities have an element of team building, especially our Borneo Low Ropes Course, Rafting, Woodland Krypton and Woodland Adventure. We feel team building is a key skill set for children and something we focus many of our activities around.

What size groups do we cater for?

School Groups from as small as 15 to as large as 150 for residential or 250 for day visits. For larger groups we recommend we come to you with our mobile It's a Knock Out and Team Building events.

On-site classroom facilities?

We have a wooden classroom on site.

Is there first aid on site?

All our Senior Instructors are 1st aid trained.

Access for visitors with disabilities

We have an accessible toilet onsite. Regarding activities we ask that individuals contact us with requirements. We try to work around visitors individual needs where possible. We work with a wide range of disability groups including the Royal National College for the Blind, Hereford Children's Deaf Society. Please talk to us about the needs of your group.

Yes, please talk to us about the needs of your group. Here at Oaker Wood we are continually working to ensure that all guests enjoy the many benefits of our activities. If a member of your group has additional requirements, we will be pleased to discuss these with you. To enable us to make an accurate assessment of service provision and identify appropriate resources in relation to access, activities, successful participation and health and safety, we ideally need full details as soon as possible.

Ensuring we can cater for the additional needs of an individual requires advance notification to allow for appropriate planning. We are only able to take responsibility for arrangements that have been discussed and agreed with us in advance. We understand that additional needs could relate to disability, dietary requirements, behavioural difficulties or religious/cultural requirements. Children can discover their adventurous side at Oaker Wood with Paintball, High Ropes, Low Ropes Assault Course, Target Shooting, Woodland Krypton, Rafting and more. School trips to Oaker Wood offer children the opportunity to connect with nature and develop important life skills. They can work on teamwork, problem-solving and becoming more resilient whilst taking part in outdoor activities. Fresh air combined with physical activity greatly benefits children’s overall health, boosting both physical fitness and mental well-being.

Who are Oaker Wood Leisure?

Outdoor Activity Centre on the Herefordshire, Shropshire border. We specialise in School & Youth (NCS) Residentials and Activity Days. Activities on offer include High Ropes and Zip Wire, Monkey Climbing, Target Shooting, Low Rope Assault Course, Team Building Courses, Outdoor Pizza Making, Den Making, Paintball, Quads and Rafting.
Residentials are based in our Woodland Glamping Villages. We have space for 160 children across 2 glamping villages, we offer total exclusivity so you do not have to share facilities with another school group.
We also offer It's a Knock Out Inflatable Team Building events at your school.
