Pupils are usually getting their first taste of a range of exciting and challenging water activities, such as canoeing and kayaking, white water rafting, surfing, windsurfing and dinghy sailing. As well as experiencing new water sports activities, these types of trips are a perfect way for teachers to allow pupils to celebrate the end of primary school, or as a way to get new groups bonding when starting secondary school. Popular coastal water sports include surfing, windsurfing, sailing, and sea kayaking. Instructors hold qualifications from the Royal Yachting Association and the International Surf Association and are trained to give beginners an enthusiastic introduction to a variety of water activities. On inland lakes and rivers, school groups can try open canoes, kayaks, and rafts. Instructors hold British Canoe Union UKCC coaching qualifications, enabling them to safely teach paddlesports to school groups.
