History School Workshops and Outreach Programmes

Curriculum linked school history workshops are available for a wide range of topics and historical periods. Outreach workshops really come into their own by bringing history into the classroom in an engaging and inspiring way.

Historical school trips in your classroom

Delve into the past and bring historical events and eras to life with interactive sessions designed to extend the knowledge of your class beyond a list of significant historical dates in a textbook. These history school workshops are often run by knowledgeable historians and allow children to role-play as historical figures, handle authentic artifacts, or participate in hands-on activities that bring the curriculum to life.

The cost of a school trip is not insignificant. As schools tighten their belts and parents are more reluctant to sign those all important permission slips, venues are adapting to give you the opportunity to host a workshop visit from them. History school workshops that visit your school benefit schools and children who cannot afford the time or expense of a traditional school trip, by developing ways for you to bring their knowledge and expertise into your classroom.

Lasting anywhere from an hour to a full day, skillful education teams can deliver exciting and engaging history school workshops. A few of our favourites include constructing a round house in the playground, and bringing a real life viking into the classroom! The benefits associated with school workshop visits include not having to arrange and pay for transport, the children not having to bring along a packed lunch, and no need for risk assessments! You could even team up with another nearby school to reduce the cost further.
