We showcase a range of workshop providers who specialise in ICT, computing and STEM themed learning from Key Stage 1 through to Further and Higher college and university education. Internet safety, British Science Week, or a fun reward session after SATs - we can help!

If you are looking for ideas and support for teaching computing to your class, the following page of full day or half day computing workshops may be helpful.

With access to an extensive range of computing resources, our workshops cover the computing programmes of study as outlined in the national curriculum, including everything from beginner Scratch Coding Courses, to computer science, algorithms, or collecting, analysing and presenting data. All computing workshops can be tailored to the experience level of your class and for your school's current topics.

With years of experience in presenting computing workshops to schools, our providers are great at getting the children engaged, through fun hands-on activities that have a strong educational foundation. Whether they end up taking their first steps in computational thinking by coding with Scratch, programming robots, flying drones, looking at the development of virtual reality or artificial intelligence, or discussing the concepts behind cyber security, your class will learn a huge amount that they can carry through the rest of the term.

View the following page if you are looking for school workshops linked to other STEM subjects, drones, robotics and AI workshops or VR virtual reality workshops.

Find a workshop to visit your school to learn about following Computing topics: Algorythms and data, Animation, Artificial Intelligence, Coding, Cyber-security, Cyberbullying, Encryption Decryption, Game Design, Information and Communications Technology, Online Safety, Robotics, Spatial Computing, and more.

How Our Robotics Workshop Made Me Want to Work in STEM

A recent computing workshop in the East of England

"Last week, something amazing happened at our school. A robotics workshop company came in and spent the whole day with us. At first, I didn't know what to expect. I thought we might just look at robots or watch a video about them. But it was way better than that because we actually got to build and code them!!

When the workshop started we got into small groups and were given a robotics kit with lots of pieces like wheels, motors, sensors, and wires. It looked really complicated at first and I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it. But our instructor showed us how to follow the instructions, and we were building a robot from scratch. It felt a bit like doing Lego but with more wires and way better results!

Once our robots were built, we learned how to code them using a tablet. That was my favourite part. We used block coding, which is like dragging and dropping instructions into a sequence to tell the robot what to do. At first, I made mine go forward and backwards. Then I added turns. By the end, I made it follow a path around the classroom. It was so good when it worked!

The best part of the day was when we had time to be creative. We got to improve our designs, change the code, and try new things. I liked that we were allowed to make mistakes. If something didn't work, we tried again. It made me feel like a proper inventor improving the code to get a better result.

Before this workshop I didn't really think about what people who work in STEM do. I knew STEM stood for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths, but I didn't know how fun and creative it could be. Now I think it would be amazing to have a job where you get to design things, solve problems, and make robots that can help people.

Since the workshop I have been looking up more about coding and that things robots are used in the world. I found out they can help doctors, explore space, and even rescue people. That made me think that maybe one day I could build a robot that does something really important. And get paid lots of money for it.

I'm really glad our school brought in this workshop. It made me feel confident, inspired, and excited to find out more. If anyone is thinking about doing a robotics day at their school, I'd say definitely do it. Maybe it could lead to your dream job."
