Rock UK - Carroty Wood School Trip

location icon Royal Tunbridge Wells Kent TN11 9QX

Residential Trip Residentials London & South East

trip icon At Carroty Wood we work hard to tailor programmes to the specific needs and budgets of our visitors. We are delighted to welcome many groups back to the centre year after year indicating that we help our guests to decide on the package that is right for them.

Each one of our instructors has a real passion for the outdoors and they strive to instil this enthusiasm in the groups they work with.

Carroty Wood is also a holder of the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge and as such we work hard to enable groups to embark on new activities and adventures: Learning, developing and applying a wide range of skills to great effect that will allow them to explore their own mental, physical and spiritual capabilities.

We create memories for life.

Bushcraft survival skill sessions can either be instructor-led, where we will teach the group to make fires, build shelters and survive in the wild, or teachers can use the grounds of the centre to run their own sessions including shelter-building and campfires. Kayaking Canoeing Raft Building

Water sports we offer include Raft building, Canoeing and Kayaking. The lake at the centre offers the chance to explore the local wildlife and habitats, learn new skills and of course the chance to jump in and swim!

What size groups do we cater for?

Our accommodation starts at 17, up to a maximum of 168 people (132 from October to April) if all 4 buildings are booked.
During the summer months, capacity can be increased further with additional camping spaces to create the ultimate outdoor experience!

On-site classroom facilities?

Yes there is a classroom cabin that can seat up to 36 including teachers

Is there first aid on site?

Yes. We take safety very seriously at Rock UK centres. Every instructor is a qualified first aider; however we also recommend that groups bring their own qualified first aider.

Access for visitors with disabilities

Yes, we have some disabled access accommodation and will liaise with group leaders to tailor activity programmes to meet the needs of your group. However, there can be some access restrictions for certain activities so we advise you to discuss your specific requirements with our helpful administrators on when making your booking.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

At Rock UK, our instructors undertake a rigorous training programme where they are constantly supervised, monitored and assessed. Within this programme instructors learn about different learning styles and educational needs and will work hard to tailor activities to meet the needs of each group they work with.
We advise group leaders to discuss any specific needs with our administrators when making your booking to ensure that together we can deliver the most appropriate programme for your group.

Anything else?

If this is your first visit to Carroty Wood (or you'd like to refamiliarise yourself with the centre) we would recommend and encourage you to contact us and arrange a site visit. A member of our team will be very happy to show you around the centre (including accommodation and activity areas) and to answer any questions you might have about booking with us.

At Rock UK we also aim to make adventure "accessible to all" and as a result we offer a limited bursary fund to assist pupils who may not ordinarily be able to attend their school's residential for financial reasons. Please contact us for further details (including eligibility criteria).

Who are Rock UK?

Rock UK is a Christian charity which has a history that goes back more than 90 years. At Carroty Wood (Rock UK's Kent centre) we believe that experiencing the outdoors is about more than just having a good time; we strive to bring new learning opportunities to life by actively engaging with our beautiful woodland surroundings.

Carroty Wood is a 58 acre, woodland centre with plenty of natural habitat and wildlife for groups to encounter. The centre is located just outside Tonbridge, Kent within 30 minutes of the M20 and M25 making it easily accessible and a very popular destination for schools from the South, South East and London.

At Carroty Wood we offer a great range of instructed activities on site, as well as fantastic facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, floodlit all-weather sports pitch, purpose built sports hall and extensive woodlands.

With the flexibility to choose your activity package (subject to availability) and our range of versatile accommodation across 4 different buildings (+ camping facilities in the summer), Carroty Wood aims to be accessible to groups with a range of different budgets and requirements.

Bursary available up to 35% of the booking value, subject to application process
