YHA Ironbridge Coalport School Trip

Residential Trip Residentials West Midlands

trip icon YHA Ironbridge Coalport is the original factory building of the Coalport China Works, offering 82 beds, a large classroom, small study room, a lounge and a spacious dining room. The hostel is situated on the banks of the River Severn, with canal paths and old railway line walking routes to the iconic Iron Bridge.

There are plenty of opportunities for schools to link their visit to the National Curriculum, choose from ten museums within the Ironbridge Gorge that are littered with industrial archaeology and are ideal for learning about the industry. For outdoor exploration take to the many pathways that take you along the canal and old railway lines to the iconic Iron Bridge. The bridge itself is ideal for admiring or sketching or an amazing game of pooh sticks!

Nearby the award winning Blists Hill Victorian town brings history to life through the sights, smells and tastes of a real working town. Plus Victorian characters are there including the candle maker, baker, grocer and policeman to help give a true insight into life one hundred years ago. Three miles away at Coalbookdale students can find out more about three generations of Quakers who perfected the art of mass production of iron and built the world-famous bridge.
