Not only have we worked alongside the British Science Association, National Science Museum, Museum Of Childhood as well as countless schools up and down the country but we've even taken on the Dragons!

What happens if…? Why does that change? How can we test it? This year’s British Science Week theme, “Curiosity: What’s Your Question?”, is at the heart of how we deliver science at Sublime. Our workshops turn children’s questions into hands-on investigation from the very first minute. Rather than simply watching experiments, pupils actively shape them. They’re encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, test ideas, and reflect on what they observe — just like real scientists. From exploring why sounds change pitch, to predicting how high rockets will travel, to investigating how polymers behave when ingredients change, every activity is driven by “What happens if…?” thinking. We’ve carefully adapted our most popular hands-on experiments so each one invites exploration and discovery. Whether firing smoke rings, launching rockets, making stretchy (or bouncy!) slime, or investigating how electricity moves, pupils compare outcomes, spot patterns, and experience the excitement of finding answers. Delivered in our signature fun, high-energy style, with volunteers, whole-class participation, and plenty of wow moments, it’s the perfect way to celebrate British Science Week and spark a genuine love of science across your school.

We can visit your school in:
Physics WorkshopExplore Physics through sound, forces, motion and pressure in hands-on laboratory sessions. Children become scientists as they investigate soundwaves and vibrations, launch rockets using thrust and energy, explore gravity and momentum, and create smoke rings with air cannons.
Chemistry WorkshopExplore chemistry through hands-on investigation of acid-base chemical reactions. Children mix compounds to observe gas production, changes in matter, and reaction properties, learning how molecules interact during chemical reactions used in real laboratories.
Our workshops are designed to be inclusive, flexible, and accessible for a wide range of Special Educational Needs.
Participation & Choice
We invite volunteers but never pressure pupils to take part. Children can engage in ways that feel comfortable for them, whether hands-on, observing, or contributing ideas. Whole-class activities do not require verbal responses and allow different levels of involvement.
Autism, SEMH & Learning Difficulties
Presenters are trained to adapt language, pace, and delivery. Sessions are high-energy but carefully structured, with frequent changes of activity to maintain engagement and reduce overwhelm. Clear expectations, routine explanations, and a supportive presentation style help minimise anxiety and behavioural triggers.
Sensory & Communication Needs
Our workshops are highly multisensory, enabling meaningful engagement for pupils with visual or auditory impairments. Activities include slime and snow investigation, smoke rings, sound and vibration demonstrations, and plasma balls that provide visual, tactile, and vibrational feedback (particularly effective in a darkened room).
Physical & Mobility Needs
While we encourage movement where appropriate, all activities can be completed while seated or stationary. Pupils can fully engage through close-up demonstrations, hands-on materials, or contributing ideas and predictions.
Dyslexia, Dyspraxia & Dyscalculia
There are no written tasks. Activities requiring fine motor skills or hand-eye coordination can be easily adapted, ensuring all pupils can participate successfully.
We are happy to discuss individual needs in advance and adapt sessions to best support your pupils.

Can we help you Apply for British Science Week Funding? The British Science Association have a number of grant schemes available to support British Science Week activities. There are normally two AWESOME grant schemes available to help you fund your activities: one for schools (for up to £700), and one for community groups (for up to £600). Grant application deadlines for 2026 have closed by the 2027 grants are expected to launch around November 2027. Kick Start Grants will be available for schools in challenging circumstances to organise events for British Science Week 2026. This can be up to £400 (Kick Start Grant) or even up to £700 if they also include the local community (Kick Start More Grant). The BSA offer Community Grants of up to £600 for community groups who work with audiences who are traditionally under-represented and are not currently engaged in a science activity. To find out more about the different funding grants available and to see if your group or school are eligible, visit the British Science Association website.
