At the Drama Hut, we believe that children should have ready access to drama in order to support learning. The Drama Hut was created to provide an affordable service that teachers could access, to help bring the curriculum to life outside of the classroom . Through drama, children are able to experience a subject, complementing and enhancing their learning in the classroom.
With over two hundred schools visited last year, we are passionate about the impact that drama within schools, can have on children’s education.

Workshops will last approximately 45 minutes and include a pre recorded short video which will be forwarded ahead of the scheduled session and include some optional 'prep' for children. Why book The Drama Hut for educational workshops into your school?

The Drama Hut's workshops offer an opportunity for children to truly experience a subject. Our experienced actors take the children on a journey of discovery enhancing any work being covered in schools in a creative and physical way.
All our team are professional actors, trained by us to help facilitate learning through performance. They all have experience working with children of all ages and share a common passion of learning through drama. All facilitators are DBS checked and implement The Drama Hut CPP (Child Protection Policy).
All we require prior to our visit is a clear space to work in and a member of staff to observe or join in the experience.

Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?

“I trust that England will not forget one who nursed her sick, who sought out her wounded to aid and succour them, and who performed the last offices for some of her illustrious dead.” Sir William H. Russell. During this workshop our actor will take on the role of Mary Seacole, to both remember and explore her life and work. By creating pictures, the children will briefly explore the Victorian era, then through improvisation, travel to the Crimea and Marys Hotel for the wounded. With the use of role play, become a soldier or nurse working for Florence Nightingale during the Crimea, perform a poem about Mary's life and create a time line to place Mary Seacole firmly within a historical time frame.

“We have used The Drama Hut on several occasions to help enrich and inspire the children’s experience of the curriculum. All facilitators have been well prepared and able to use their dramatic skills to deliver well-pitched and interesting workshops. Children are always excited after the session and are able to speak confidently about what they have learnt.”
