All of our workshops are available online and can be live streamed into classrooms, halls and homes. COVID related cancellations are available at short notice as long as workshops can be rescheduled for later in the year.
We are able to visit you either online or on-site and work around your time constraints with up to 30 children at any one time. We offer special day rates for multiple classes and can deliver two different topics to different year groups on the same day.
If on-site, all we require on the day is the school hall or similar to work in and a member of staff to observe or join in the session/s.
Other topics available include: Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Mayans, Romans, Stone Age, Saxon and Vikings, Victorians, WW1, WW2, Great Fire of London, Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Great Explorers, Rainforests, Creative Writing, Roald Dahl, Shakespeare,
Curriculum topics available: The Roman Army, Boudicca Rebellion.
This workshop is extremely beneficial for children studying the Romans or Celts. During the session they will meet Queen Boudicca and learn about her story. They will then experience what it was like to be a Roman soldier, recreate both open and closed formations, as well as understand how the Gods, Goddesses and religion played such an important part during Roman times. For this particular workshop, we encourage children to make their own Roman shields prior to our visit.
We advise groups of up to 30 children at any one time
We are able to either join the schools preferred platform as a visitor or we can invite a teacher to jointly host a session with us across zoom. Workshops are typically recorded for training and quality purposes but if schools are uncomfortable with this in any way, this is not mandatory. We are able to provide our risk assessment document upon request which is updated regularly to comply with current guidelines in relation to COVID19.
Schools will require a large screen either in a classroom or hall so that the children are able to see our actor clearly. Sessions are delivered live so a good internet connection is essential. Sessions typically last approx 60-75 minutes each but this can be determined by the school to fit with their timetable.

At the Drama Hut, we believe that schools should have ready access to drama in order to support learning. In providing an on-site and online service to schools, we offer a cost- effective alternative to expensive school trips, helping to bring history workshops from the curriculum to life. Through drama, children are able to experience a subject, complementing and enhancing their learning in the classroom.
All our team are trained both in facilitation and performance. They have experience working with children of all ages and share a common passion for learning through drama. All facilitators are DBS checked and implement The Drama Hut CPP (Child Protection Policy).
"The whole exerience of using Drama Hut, from beginning to end, was very professional. Emails were responded to promptly and gentle reminders sent (which is appreciated when school is so busy). Lillie did a fantastic job throughout her visit. Her engaging and friendly manner hooked the children from the outset and she managed to keep them (including some challenging children) engaged and focused throughout, particularly since it was an extremely hot day at the very end of term. The children were thrilled to be able to show off their knowledge and learning of the Romans and this session really allowed them to consolidate everything they already knew, alongside learning new and interesting aspects of Roman life. They have insisted on holding Roman drill and marching over the past two days, using the commands as taught by Lillie. They were full of praise for the session and it was a lovely way to end the term. Thanks to everyone in the office for helping to organise the visit but especial thanks to Lillie for all her hard and enthusiastic work."
"Boudica! was great at enthusing the children and used a great range of drama and games to teach some key points about Roman history. A great day, thank you."

"As always, the children loved the session and were engaged throughout. As the school's History coordinator, I firmly believe that drama is essential for children to gain a real understanding of the past. A Drama Hut session gives them the opportunity to do this in a fun and creative way."
Patricia, History co-ordinator Orleans Primary
"It was a fantastic day and all the sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by all the children. I would whole heartedly recommend this provider. Thank you!"
