School Workshop Online Workshop
Journey back in time to Anglo Saxon England in one of the famous Viking Longboats. With 'Astrid The Elegant' Viking as their guide! Through improvisation, song, riddles and movement, the children will begin to explore life during this fascinating period. Together, the children will create images of Anglo Saxon and Viking Britain, use their imagination to set sail in a Viking longboat and discover why the Vikings came to our shores. We will play 'Guess the God' and explore the important roles the Gods played in the life of the Anglo Saxons and The Vikings. In addition, using the story of 'Thor's Hammer', we will also learn how stories and riddles were used to educate children.

Performing Arts
Our workshops include tailored, fully interactive, drama games, role play, teamwork exercises, songs, movement and more, led by a professional costumed actor.
Saxons
Invaders and Settlers
In this workshop we will meet 'Astrid' The Viking and travel back in time to Anglo Saxon Britain. Through role play, song and interactive drama games we will learn lots of key themes from this time period.
Vikings
Mythology and Culture
Astrid, our Viking will introduce the children to all things Viking and teach them famous riddles from the time still known today. She will also have them take part in the re-telling of the famous myth 'Thor's Hammer' and have them sailing in their very own Viking longboat.
What size groups do we cater for?
We typically run 60-120 minute workshops with up to 30 children at any one time and can offer special day rates for multiple classes. We are also able to provide two different topics on the same day for different year groups,

How does safeguarding work for online workshops?
Online sessions are jointly hosted by the teacher and our actor and may or may not be recorded, depending on the preference of the school. Ideally workshops take place in a school hall with a large screen, however, they can also work extremely well in a classroom, with desks pushed aside. Our Risk Assessment document is available upon request and is updated regularly to comply with all current advice and guidelines.

What technology/devices/type of internet connection do schools need for an online workshop?
Online workshops are delivered live by professional actors and typically last 60-75 minutes each. They are structured in the same way as an on-site visit and have the advantage of utilising the benefits of technology ' in particular, virtual backgrounds, enabling actors to transport children back in time, to any era or location. School will require a good internet connection and ideally a large screen to project our actor on to, so all the children have good visibility.

Who are The Drama Hut?
At the Drama Hut we employ skilled costumed actors who use the Performing Arts, to help children truly experience a subject, complementing and enhancing learning in the classroom. Through improvisation, role play, movement and song, we help to bring the curriculum to life. Whether you choose to have us visit you online or on-site, our workshops are delivered live and are fully interactive. Prices start at £120 for a single workshop, with discounts available when multiple sessions/different topics are booked.
