At The Drama Hut, we believe that schools should have ready access to affordable drama workshops in order to support learning. The Drama Hut was created in order to provide a service that teachers could access, to help bring the curriculum to life. Through drama, children are able to experience a subject, complementing and enhancing their learning in the classroom.
All our team are professional actors, trained both in facilitation and performance. They have experience working with children of all ages and share a common passion for learning through drama. All facilitators are DBS checked and implement The Drama Hut CPP (Child Protection Policy).
With over two hundred schools visited last year, we are passionate about the impact that drama within schools, can have on children’s education.
During this workshop, our professional actress will take on the role of Astrid The Viking and travel back in time to Anglo Saxon Britain. Amongst other things, the children will create images of Anglo Saxon and Viking Britain, Use their imagination to set sail in a Viking longboat and discover why the Vikings came to our shores. Play ‘Guess the God’, learning about religion and the important roles the Gods played in the life of the Anglo Saxons and The Vikings and using the story of ‘Thor’s Hammer’, learn how stories and riddles were used to educate children.
Other workshops we offer schools include: Anglo Saxons/Vikings I Creative Writing I Egyptians I Greeks I Florence Nightingale I Great Explorers I Mary Seacole I Great Fire of London I Mayans I Romans I Stone Age I Suffragettes I Tudors I Victorians I WW1 I WW2 I World Book Day
We can work with up to 30 children at any one time for a minimum of 60 minutes. We offer special day rates for multiple classes and can deliver different topics to different year groups on the same day, helping to manage tight school budgets.
All we require on the day is the school hall or similar to work in and a member of staff to observe the session/s.
Yes, with the assistance an support of staff on-site.
“We have used The Drama Hut on several occasions to help enrich and inspire the children’s experience of the curriculum. All facilitators have been well prepared and able to use their dramatic skills to deliver well-pitched and interesting workshops. Children are always excited after the session and are able to speak confidently about what they have learnt.”
