School Visits Buckinghamshire

inspiration and ideas

Where to visit on a school trip in Buckinghamshire?

The historical English county of Buckinghamshire lies North West of Central London and includes the populous towns of Aylesbury and High Wycombe. More rural areas include The Chilterns, or Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; an area of rolling hills and picturesque villages that cuts across the Southern part of Buckinghamshire. Whether you are studying town planning, rivers and valleys, or something entirely different, the county provides plenty of fantastic options for teachers and their pupils.

The outdoor learning opportunities in Buckinghamshire are numerous and we can help you discover and organise an amazing day out. See below for a range of visits closely linked to the curriculum. Covering all key subjects, from Science and PSHE to History and Physical Education, the venues below can tailor your visit to different age groups and abilities.

Take a look at some of the highlights below, or expand your search beyond Buckinghamshire to other local counties in the South East, or further afield, using the menu above.

Want to know where to take your school group in Buckinghamshire? For outdoor adventure or team building try Caldecotte Xperience. Have a go at confidence building activities like canoeing, climbing and archery. Drama In The Woods Day Visits and overnight camps are a fantastic way to immerse children in nature and allowing them to get creative through storytelling. Berkshire's beautiful Chiltern Hills are ideal for geography students taking field trips to study the area's wonderful habitats. At Bletchley Park, the headquarters of the famous World War II Enigma codebreakers, you can feel the history as you learn about the codebreaking that played a vistal role in the war. The Field Studies Council's centre at Amersham in South Buckinghamshire is perfectly equipped for biology and environmental sciences with superb facilities and access to woodland and meadow sites. Willen Lake is another great place for learning outside the classroom. Here you can try more watersports, cycling, and a great high ropes course.

Able to travel to other counties in South East, have a look at our trip pages for: Berkshire, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, Hertfordshire Essex, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex, for more school trip ideas.
