Voices from the Titanic Workshop

The Drama Hut

School Workshop

trip icon Our Titanic workshop brings history to life through drama, helping children engage deeply with the real stories behind this famous event. By stepping into the shoes of passengers like Molly Brown, pupils explore themes of class, empathy, decision-making, and the human impact of historical events. It supports cross-curricular learning, enhances speaking and listening skills, and inspires curiosity through active participation. Perfect for enriching your history topic in a memorable and meaningful way.

What activities are available during this school workshop?

During this engaging workshop, children will begin by playing our "10 Second Pictures" game, creating frozen snapshots that capture key moments from the Titanic’s story while learning about the ship, the iceberg, and its passengers. They will role-play characters from different social classes on board and, through poetry and drama, act out scenes of boarding, dining, and working on the ship, leading up to the moment the iceberg strikes. Pupils will then invent their own passenger or family, develop a backstory, and explore their character’s journey through storytelling and hot-seating. Finally, they will walk through our "Conscience Alley," sharing voices from the past and reflecting on how the Titanic is remembered today.

What size groups do we cater for?

We typically run 60-120 minute workshops with up to 30 children at any one time and can offer special day rates for multiple classes. We are also able to provide two different topics on the same day for different year groups.

Access for visitors with disabilities

Yes - the very nature of our workshops being so visual and experiential, has led to extremely positive feedback from teachers.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and accessible, making it ideal for children with SEN. The interactive, multi-sensory approach using drama, movement, storytelling, and visual cues supports a range of learning styles. Activities are flexible and can be adapted to meet individual needs, encouraging participation, building confidence, and supporting communication and social skills in a safe, supportive environment.

Who are The Drama Hut?

At the Drama Hut we employ skilled costumed actors who use the Performing Arts, to help children truly experience a subject, complementing and enhancing learning in the classroom. Through improvisation, role play, movement and song, we help to bring the curriculum to life. Whether you choose to have us visit you online or on-site, our workshops are delivered live and are fully interactive.
Whether it's a history subject, creative writing workshop, PSHE or an opportunity to celebrate a significant person or event, let us help you to inspire learning with a Drama Hut workshop.
