At Grafham Water Centre, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. That's why we have worked hard to make our site and activities as accessible and inclusive as possible for all visitors.

Accessible Accommodation & Facilities
Ground floor bedrooms, including a fully equipped room with a hoist system from bed to en-suite bathroom
Adjustable bed, bath, and sink for comfort and ease of use
Stair lifts on all staircases in the main building for safe access to the dining room
Accessible toilets in every building, including a hoist and changing bed in the sports hall
Minimal steps across the site to support independent movement
Automatic doors and ramp access to reception

Inclusive Activity Equipment
We offer specialist equipment to ensure everyone can take part in our activities:
Posture aids for use across all activities
All-terrain manual wheelchair for outdoor mobility
Hoist systems for high ropes, climbing, and water-based activities
Archery supports, including string grips and bow-free shooters
Paddle holders for improved grip and control
Stable watercraft such as keelboats and canoes
Weekly on-site sailing disability club during the summer

Who are Grafham Water Centre?

Grafham Water Centre (GWC) is a trusted, AALA-licensed residential outdoor activity centre, proudly run by Cambridgeshire County Council. Set against the stunning backdrop of Grafham Water Reservoir, our centre offers fully inclusive, high-quality outdoor learning experiences designed to inspire, challenge, and support young people of all abilities.

We are proud to hold the AHOEC Gold Standard and CLOtC Quality Badge, recognising our commitment to safety, learning, and excellence in outdoor education.

Located in the peaceful village of Perry, near Huntingdon, our secure, private site is open only to booked groups—providing a safe and welcoming environment for school residentials.

With 160 beds in accessible, dormitory-style accommodation, we cater to a wide range of needs. Several rooms and bathrooms are fully equipped for young people with significant physical disabilities, and we also offer quiet spaces for those who may need time away during their stay.

Our activities—ranging from water sports and high ropes to bushcraft and team challenges—are led by experienced instructors who tailor each session to your school’s learning goals. We work closely with staff to ensure every child is supported, engaged, and encouraged to grow.

As part of your stay, we provide 5-star rated catering, offering nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners that meet all dietary requirements.
