YHA London Thameside School Trips
We are YHA.
We transform young lives forever through travel and real adventure.
Because where you go changes who you become.
To show how important travel and adventure is, we’ve taken it away from someone who depends on it… and given it to children who’ve been missing out.
Why are YHA great for School Trips and Educational Visits?
YHA London Thameside provides the ideal base for school groups wanting to explore the sights and bright lights of this capital city. Based in the Docklands area, the hostel has great transport links to the many famous attractions and offers a friendly base for schools to return to at the end of an action-packed day. Or if you’d prefer to walk, the Thames Path is nearby, offering the chance to walk along the Thames, through the setting of many Dickens novels, before emerging at London Bridge and the Tower of London.
This purpose-built, 24 hour access, hostel has plenty of space for students to relax, with great social areas, free Wi-Fi, desktop computers and space to do studies or watch tv together. Schools will also be well catered for here with breakfast, packed lunches and evening meals all available here.
There is so much to do in London that it’s difficult to decide what to do first. Our bolt-on activities are always a great places to start! Go on an adventure with our city explorer bolt-on or tie in a visit to a West End show with a theatre workshop bolt-on.
London is packed with group-friendly attractions. Perhaps you’ll pay a visit to the Queen at Buckingham Palace, see a Beefeater at the Tower of London, get spooked at the London Dungeon, or see the Bard’s work at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre? If there’s time go and see the view from The Shard, visit London Zoo, take a City Cruise along the Thames, soak up the culture at the Royal Opera House or Tate Britain, take a spin on the Coca-cola London Eye, tour the Science Museum, wave at Big Ben, cast a spell at The Making of Harry Potter studio tour, or have your photo taken with a celeb or two at Madame Tussauds. One thing’s for sure – you’ll not be bored!
What activities are available during group visits?
YHA City explorer bolt-on – This bolt-on enables students to explore the famous streets and museums of London. Interact with the locations and actors and we work as a team to solve intricate puzzles and prepare to solve a final mission. Activities include murder at the museum, the curse of the crystal skills, the world crime leave and the Battersea Barter, to name just a few.
YHA Theatre bolt-on – This bolt-on is the ideal accompaniment for students who are planning on taking in a show when staying in London. Through a bespoke 2-3 hour workshops, delivered by the fantastic staff at The Theatre Workout, students are offered the opportunity to explore the characters, analyse the plot, rehearse and perform scenes before discussing their relevance to modern day issues.
