The Medieval World! Workshop

The Past Presents

School Workshop Online Workshop

trip icon When it comes to what we deliver and how we deliver it, nobody goes the extra mile like we do...

OUR VANS ARE HUGE! ... because we fill them with resources, kit and equipment for you!

OUR SET-UP TIMES ARE LONG! ...because we want to take the time to turn your classroom, hall or playground into Ancient Wonders!

OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE PHYSICALLY FIT! ...because they don't stand and talk; they act, fight, direct, group manage, build and construct alongside your young people.

OUR WORKSHOPS FIT YOUR NEEDS! ... all of our workshops are closely linked to the curriculum and delivered by our instructors who know how to engage young people!

In short....no one will go as far as we do to ensure your young people have the most value from one of our visits!

Where we travel to

We can visit your school in:

What activities are available during this school workshop?

Session 1 – Courts & Chivalry: A wonderfully diverse session examining the concepts of
knightly valour, court etiquette and chivalry using role-play and drama. Young people will dance, enact courtly ceremonies and train as noblemen and women

Session 2 – Ecclesiastical Enterprises: This session examines the integral part the Church
played in everyday life, including enacting monastic life and the importance of religion to the medieval person

Session 3 – Castles: Conquest and Control: Students learn the construction and deployment of castles as they plan, build and test the quality of their own constructions.

Session 4 – Severe Sieges: Using our exclusive range of ancient siege weapons, students can understand the nature of medieval siege warfare and conduct their very own siege!

Session 5 – Weapons & Warfare: This 2-part session looks at weapons, arms and armour and the arms race that developed throughout the middle ages. Close focus is placed on characters such as the Knight and Archer

Session 6 – Barbaric Battles: Choose from a range of battles in one of our most popular workshop formats: Bannockburn, Agincourt, Bosworth

Session 7 – Murderous Medieval Medicine: The barbaric Barber-Surgeon reveals to students
the bloody, brutal and often hilarious world of medieval medicine in this highly entertaining session.

Session 8 – Pleasant Peasant Pastimes: This session takes an in depth look at the lower end
of Medieval society. Young people can compare the differences between the nobility and peasants through food, farming, hunting, poaching and everyday life
