Perfect for school groups, their engaging workshops give children the chance to build new skills, solve problems, explore technology, and create something of their own in a fun and meaningful way.In this exciting workshop designed by games industry professionals, students explore the fundamentals of coding and game development by creating their own game from scratch. Led through practical, hands-on projects, they learn how code brings a game to life, developing their understanding of programming concepts such as variables, movement, conditions, loops, and problem-solving.
Students will work step-by-step to design, build and test their own game using Scratch/Minecraft Education for younger students or Python and the Godot game engine for older students. They'll learn key coding concepts, solve challenges and bring their ideas to life as a playable game, with plenty of opportunities to experiment, create, and work together.
Teachers choose this workshop because it combines meaningful STEM learning with an experience students genuinely enjoy. After 2 hours of coding, students can put their skills to the test with 30 minutes of exciting VR gaming, providing a memorable end to the session. Suitable for ages 9+.

Animation Game Design Coding
Bring computing to life through game development! Students learn Python and the Godot game engine through a hands-on workshop, creating and play-testing their own game while developing skills in variables, lists, if/else statements, loops, algorithms, problem-solving and debugging.
Students code on iPads, explore how games are developed, and gain insight into the video game industry before finishing with a 30-minute VR gaming session.
What size groups do we cater for?
Up to 36 students.

At VRXtra Kingston, we are committed to making our VR and coding experiences accessible, engaging and inclusive for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our activities are flexible and can be adapted to suit individual learning styles, confidence levels and sensory needs. Coding workshops allow students to learn at their own pace, developing problem-solving, creativity and logical thinking in a supportive environment.
We offer small group sessions to minimise noise and distractions, adjustable VR experiences, and patient, supportive staff who can provide one-to-one guidance where needed. Students can also access calm spaces for breaks or decompression, helping them feel comfortable and supported throughout their visit. Our aim is for every student to feel included, build confidence and enjoy learning through technology.

The workshop is suited for ages 9+ and adapted to suit age and ability, with difficulty discussed beforehand.
Students must bring their own iPad running iOS 18+. We use Xodot, the free mobile version of Godot. By arrangement, we can also deliver the workshop at your school using your computers.
