The Natural History Museum School Trip

We have an array of hands-on, fun and interactive workshops and shows that link to the biology curriculum. Learn about ocean ecosystems in our Ocean Life and Habitat Show, discover how evolution occurs in our Evolution Workshop (using real Museum case studies) or explore invertebrates and biodiversity in our Minibeast Hunt and Biodiversity in Action workshops.

Learn about pond environments, and how pollution can impact them, in our outdoor Pond Dipping Workshop. Pupils will use nets to catch pond animals and conduct a scientific enquiry into what these animals eat. They will get to catch and classify animals and then observe animal behaviour and conduct research to understand pond ecosystems.

Demonstrate the impact that humans make on the environment through our one of our interactive workshops that require pupils to use critical thinking skills. Consider the impact of cities on wildlife in our Evolution Workshop or how humans' impact marine environments in our Ocean Life and Habitats Show.

Explore the exciting world of volcanoes and earthquakes and their effects on society in our action-packed Emergency! Earthquakes and Volcanoes Show. Students and teachers will investigate geological forces from deep within the Earth using interactive demonstrations. The group will make a real earthquake and pour lava - but will it gain the skills and knowledge to save a town from catastrophe? This show highlights the awesome power of our planet's natural forces and demonstrates the importance and challenge of natural disaster prediction. In this immersive experience students won't just see a show but become part of the story.

In our 'Our Planet, Our Future: Solutions for Fixing our Broken Planet' workshop (KS3-4) help your students investigate real-world climate solutions, set in our Fixing Our Broken Planet gallery. Role-play to build skills vital to careers across the climate sector by exploring our leading research on pathways for a greener future.

In our Mission to Mars: LEGO® Explorers Workshop, pupils will design, create and code a Martian rover using LEGO® Education SPIKE Essential robotics sets. Pupils work in small teams to design and build their LEGO Martian rover and then they will code, test and evaluate their designs before seeing how their rovers perform on a realistic Martian surface.

Learn how fossils form and discover real fossil specimens in our Dino Dig: Fossil Finders Workshop. Pupils will dig up fossils and clues to demonstrate how life on Earth has changed over time. Or, explore the exciting world of volcanoes and earthquakes and their effects on society in our action-packed Emergency! Earthquakes and Volcanoes Show.

Join our LEGO® Build the Change: Save Our Planet! Workshop, where pupils will use their creativity to design, build, and evaluate a solution to a real-world sustainability challenge using LEGO® bricks in this hands-on workshop. Pupils will select a sustainability challenge (such as pollution or climate change) to respond to, based on real-world case studies and research pioneered by Museum scientists.
