Dinosaur trips and workshops for school groups

Bring Dinosaurs to life (not literally)

What dinosaur-themed trips in the UK bring prehistoric science and history alive?

Dinosaur experiences feature fossil digs, natural history museum visits, and lots of other ways to engage your young learners through evolution and palaeontology. Who doesn't like dinosaurs! You may struggle for ideas about how to get your class to engage with some school topics. Dinosaurs isn't likely to be one of them.

Get ready to transport your students back in time to the age of the dinosaurs, with knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructors who will guide them through a series of engaging activities that bring these prehistoric creatures to life.

Dinosaur Day School Trips UK | 1 June 2027

National Dinosaur Day is celebrated on 1 June 2027 and is pure magic for any class obsessed with prehistoric beasts (ie any class!). There's no better way to get a child excited about learning than standing them next to real fossils or watching dinosaur scientists at work - and we have the perfect UK school trips to make it happen. The Natural History Museum in London is always a favourite, but there are brilliant regional options too, from dinosaur digs in the Isle of Wight to fossil workshops in Scotland.

Celebrate Dinosaur Day with primary and secondary pupils. Understand evolution, extinction and how we learn about the past. If you're after Dinosaur Day school trip ideas, book early because availability in the month around this annual celebration can be as scarce as a tyrannosaurus skeleton! Book a palaeontology adventure today.

Dinosaur workshops may include the use of real fossils, team building tasks around piecing together dinosaur skeletons, or creating their own dinosaur themed art projects like making papier-mache dinosaur eggs. During these dinosaur workshops there will be fascinating facts about dinosaur behaviour and how they roamed the earth millions of years ago.

The topic of dinosaurs can be taught in relation to quite a few different subject areas, from the biological sciences of evolution and extinction, to geology and natural history. Having a dinosaur workshop visit your school can inspire your pupils, seeing them working as palaeontologists for the day perhaps creating their own fossils, or learning about the life of Mary Anning, the world famous palaeontologist.

For day visit options, try the Natural History Museum in London and their world class exhibits, where you can dig for a dino and uncover a dinosaur skull, or experience an evolutionary workshop to Compare fossils and explore how life has changed over time. At Dinotropolis in Kent your pupils can learn about different dinosaur species and their habitats.  While at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh you can see a range of dinosaur fossils.

We often use workshops to kickstart interest and museums to leave a lasting impression.

Are there free dinosaur options?
Absolutely! Many natural history museums have galleries with dinosaur exhibits that are free to explore, which is perfect for budget-friendly trips. Also, local beaches can be treasure troves for fossils, offering a free, outdoor fossil-hunting adventure that’s both fun and educational.
