Why book
'Coding Games Workshop' with Chaos Created
Our fun and educational Coding Games Workshop is led by real-world game developers and will teach your pupils the basics of coding and game development, through engaging and practical projects. Your students will create their own arcade-style snack games which they can play from home and share with family and friends. They will also have the opportunity to work together on a real mobile game! This workshop will boost their confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills.
We’ll begin by creating several arcade-style games with your pupils, replicating some of their favourite types of games, using Microsoft’s MakeCode visual programming language.
They’ll have the opportunity to design their own artwork and characters and, throughout the session, they’ll learn the fundamentals of coding, including variables, loops, collisions, movement and motion, and conditional programming. Throughout the session, the games we will create with your students will get more complex, and your pupils will be able to play their games from home, and share them with family and friends.
During the final section of each workshop, we look at a real game on the app-stores which we’ve deliberately broken. Using the skills the pupils have picked up throughout the first two parts of the workshop, they will work together to help us fix the game and adding new code to the game in the form of a new power-up! Pupils get to write real code (in C# or JavaScript), with suggestions and support from their friends. This gives every pupil confidence and support, and a real sense of achievement and teamwork as they learn real world coding skills.
