Trips and visits form an important part of life at most schools, whether they are week long residentials, educational day trips or fun-filled reward trips. With most classes having a handful of curriculum linked trips each school year, as a teacher it is useful to have a list of inspirational venues to choose from. The East Midlands county of Leicestershire has some excellent learning opportunities.
Two of the finest history themed venues in Leicestershire are the 1620s House and Gardens at Donington le Heath, and the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre. If you are studying periods in British history anywhere from the Middle Ages through to the Stretching from the late Middle Ages, through the Tudors and Stuarts, these two venues are unmissable and sure to bring your classroom topics to life. The 1620s house and garden with its links to the Gunpowder Plot, can cover many history topics or cross over into PSHE and English.
