School Trips and Visits in Leicestershire

ideas and inspiration

Where to take a school trip in Leicestershire?

Looking for places to visit with your school in Leicestershire, we have a wide range of heritage venues, nature reserves, museums and science centres, or farm parks offering educational trips and workshops for schools.

Trips and visits form an important part of life at most schools, whether they are week long residentials, educational day trips or fun-filled reward trips. With most classes having a handful of curriculum linked trips each school year, as a teacher it is useful to have a list of inspirational venues to choose from. The East Midlands county of Leicestershire has some excellent learning opportunities.

Two of the finest history themed venues in Leicestershire are the 1620s House and Gardens at Donington le Heath, and the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre at Nuneaton. If you are studying periods in British history anywhere from the Middle Ages to the Tudors and Stuarts, these two venues are unmissable and sure to bring your classroom topics to life. The 1620s house and garden with its links to the Gunpowder Plot, can cover many history topics or cross over into PSHE and English.

Want to know where to take your school group in Leicestershire? Here are some fun educational trips from venues such as 1620s House and Garden, Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, Stone Age School Trip, Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, Belvoir Castle, and more.

Able to travel to other counties in East Midlands, have a look at our trip pages for: Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, for more school trip ideas.
