School Trips to Nottinghamshire

ideas and inspiration

Where can you take a school trip in Nottinghamshire?

Nottinghamshire, in the heart of England, perhaps best known for the folk tales of Robin Hood, is home to over a million people. Major towns include Nottingham, Mansfield, Newark-on-Trent and Worksop.

The geography and landscape is dominated by Sherwood Forest, and the county's major river, The Trent. For school trips, Nottinghamshire has a rich history for study, with everyone from prehistoric peoples of the stone age, the Romans and Vikings, onwards, recognising the county's strategic importance and leaving traces of the time they spent here. During the Industrial Revolution, the coal seams and iron ore boosted the local economy.

Nottinghamshire is a wonderful place for school visits, with lots of outdoor residential centres, and plenty of curriculum focused day visits to help with your class topics.

So what is available for school groups near you? The options below list school visit ideas in Nottinghamshire, or within a short distance of the county.

Want to know where to take your school group in Nottinghamshire? Here are some fun educational trips from venues such as School Trips at White Post Farm, YHA Sherwood Forest, Day Visits to Walesby Forest, Walesby Forest, and more.
