We help to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding that pupils need to play a full part in society as active and responsible citizens. Many of our activities require students to cooperate, listen, and become part of a team working towards a common goal. The activities also encourage taking personal responsibility and resilience and the need to push our own personal boundaries.
With over 40 physical activities on site they help improve fitness, coordination and endurance; a day can last from 9am to 9pm by the time the evening twilight programme is complete! As if all our activities weren't enough there is plenty of space and time to use the site for your own sports activities as well.
We aim to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team working and critical thinking through our range of activities. Whether by climbing higher than you have done before, solving team building puzzles, taking a risk whether your raft will float or not, helping others climb a wobbly crate stack, or just by being part of a school team on site.
With our own lake on site water sports have been our most popular activities since we opened. Do you want to kayak or canoe? How about building a raft and try and cross the lake? Or simply take a plunge on the body boarding course? All under the close supervision of fully qualified staff with plenty of hot showers available to warm up afterwards.
Every young person has the opportunity to develop and grow whilst at Walesby Forest. Our instructors are very used to working with SEN students through our ongoing work with Portland College, and can transfer those learned skills to your group.
The centre welcomes all participants and we are continually developing programmes and activities to support these groups.
Walesby Forest is quite simply acres of fun in Robin Hood county. We offer off the shelf or completely bespoke packages aimed at educating our students in a fun and safe environment within the heart of the incredible Sherwood Forest.
From wet and wild water activities, to adrenaline filled climbs and descents, to brain teasing puzzles we guarantee to test children's skills and help them discover new found expertise. Our skilled staff and instructors will do their utmost to make sure your visit to Walesby Forest is a memorable one for years to come.
We offer a range of accommodation options including 4 lodges each designed to hold one entire class, a tented village, or use of our own tents set up in a traditional camp. All accommodation is suitable for a range of groups and requirements. A bedding package consisting of duvet and cover, pillow and case plus sheet is available on request.
Alongside our facilities we offer a range of educational and adventure activity programmes and packages linked to the national curriculum. Choose from a range of inclusive packages or let us help you design your own bespoke programme.
Our key focus with primary school groups is to develop a child’s key skills whether they are year one or year six. For some children this may be the first time they spend away from home so it is important every child is comfortable and has the ability to enjoy every second while they are visiting Walesby Forest.
As students get older we want to get them away from their smartphones and tablets and out into the open. Our bespoke packages can offer a young student from year 7 to the older year 11’s a range of activities that is designed to build confidence and challenge their thinking and abilities.
As a charity we are able to offer high quality adventure activities at a lower cost than commercial providers and have been inspiring and educating children for over the last 80 years. With over 40 on-site adventure activities to choose from, excellent facilities and a range of catering options we have something to suit every group size and budget.
