Rock UK - Frontier Centre School Trip

location icon Irthlingborough NN9 5UH

Residential Trip

trip icon At Frontier Centre we work hard to tailor programmes to the specific needs and budgets of our visitors. We are delighted to welcome many groups back to the centre year after year indicating that we help our guests to decide on the package that is right for them.

Each one of our instructors has a real passion for the outdoors and they strive to instil this enthusiasm in the groups they work with.

Frontier Centre is also a holder of the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge and as such we work hard to enable groups to embark on new activities and adventures: Learning, developing and applying a wide range of skills to great effect that will allow them to explore their own mental, physical and spiritual capabilities.

We create memories for life.

Bushcraft survival skill sessions can either be instructor-led, where we will teach the group to make fires, build shelters and survive in the wild, or teachers can use the grounds of the centre to run their own sessions including shelter-building and campfires. Frontier Centre is set in Northamptonshire, surrounded by 122 acres of young woodland and the picturesque Nene Valley.

green tick Watersports School Trip

Kayaking Raft Building

Water sports we offer include Raft building, Canoeing and Kayaking. The lake at the centre offers the chance to explore the local wildlife and habitats, learn new skills and of course the chance to jump in and swim!

What size groups do we cater for?

Our accommodation starts at 6, up to a maximum of 234 people, camping can be added in the warmer months providing cost effective accommodation and a total outdoors experience.

Is there first aid on site?

Yes. We take safety very seriously at Rock UK centres. Every instructor is a qualified first aider; however we also recommend that groups bring their own qualified first aider.

Access for visitors with disabilities

Yes, we have some disabled access accommodation and will liaise with group leaders to tailor activity programmes to meet the needs of your group. However, there can be some access restrictions for certain activities so we advise you to discuss your specific requirements with our helpful administrators on 01933 654120 when making your booking.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

At Rock UK, our instructors undertake a rigorous training programme where they are constantly supervised, monitored and assessed. Within this programme instructors learn about different learning styles and educational needs and will work hard to tailor activities to meet the needs of each group they work with.

We advise group leaders to discuss any specific needs with our administrators when making your booking to ensure that together we can deliver the most appropriate programme for your group.

Anything else?

If this is your first visit to Frontier Centre (or you'd like to refamiliarise yourself with the centre) we would recommend and encourage you to contact us and arrange a site visit. A member of our team will be very happy to show you around the centre (including accommodation and activity areas) and to answer any questions you might have about booking with us.

At Rock UK we also aim to make adventure "accessible to all" and as a result we offer a limited bursary fund to assist pupils who may not ordinarily be able to attend their schools residential for financial reasons. Please contact us for further details (including eligibility criteria).

Who are Rock UK?

Rock UK is a Christian charity which has a history that goes back more than 90 years.

At Frontier Centre (Rock UK's Northamptonshire centre) we believe that experiencing the outdoors is about more than just having a good time; we strive to bring new learning opportunities to life by actively engaging with our beautiful surroundings.

It is easy to think that you are in the middle of nowhere when you are at the Frontier Centre, surrounded by lakes and the beautiful countryside of the Nene Valley. However, the centre is just 90 minutes from both London and Birmingham and is very close to major road networks for the north and south of the country. This makes it ideally placed to accommodate schools from all over the country.

At Frontier Centre our highly trained instructors provide a wide range of adventurous activities all of which are on site including water based activities such as kayaking and raft building. We offer different activity packages for you to choose from, giving you flexibility to suit your requirements and budget. Our excellent facilities on site include a movie night room, sports hall, hardcourt area and self-supervised adventure pits and adventure play areas.

There are nine accommodation options to choice from, each with its own unique characteristics. Choose from the catered, modern facilities of Whittaker Lodge with en-suite bedrooms, large meeting rooms, chill out areas; the lodges of Oak, Willow and Rowan and the Scandinavian-style lodges of Pines cabins which you can choose to be catered or self-cater. In the warmer months additional space can be made available through our camping facility.
