Residential Trip School Workshop Online Workshop East Midlands Nottinghamshire
Guided Tour:
All of our WPF Workshops for Self-Led experiences focus on working scientifically. Our 'Mini Beasts' and 'Animal Detectives' workshops focus on identifying and classifying species. Our workshops based on 'Africa' and the 'Pollinators' focus on questioning, identifying and observing species.
We can visit your school in:
Our guided tours allow children to experience and explore a farm environment firsthand, with time for learning about the animals they may encounter, plus time for any questions.
Our two EYFS workshops, 'Springtime' & 'On the Farm', focus more on the specifics and link to 'understanding the world' in the Early Learning Goals, to learn more about animals you'd specifically find in a farm environment, and all about new life/changes in the seasons.
We have a variety of different workshops that cover areas of Biology. This includes our 'Mini Beasts Workshop', 'Animal Detectives', 'Pollinators' and our 'Africa' Workshop. See more information on these workshops below:
- Our Minibeasts workshop focuses on understanding what an invertebrate is and how many different invertebrate species there are across the world. The children will recognise the multiple habitats that invertebrates can live in and meet some African invertebrate species, to compare how different, yet similar, they are to invertebrates we find in the UK.
- Our Animal Detectives workshop focuses on using knowledge of classification of animal groups and animal diets to uncover clues about an animal that has been misbehaving at the farm, with a chance to see and handle some animal artefacts from the farm.
- Our Pollinators workshop focuses on our very own honey beehive, and children will have the opportunity to learn more about our winged insects and how pollination aids the planet. They will learn more about the different bees found within a hive, the chance to feel some real honeycomb and taste some WPF-produced honey, whilst learning about its production, as well as trying on some beekeeping equipment.
- Our Africa workshop focuses on habitats and the different habitats that you can find across the continent. You'll look in particular at two different habitats, and the animals that can be found in them, with a chance to meet some African invertebrates and see some animal artefacts.
We can help schools learn about sustainability through our constant messaging of Conservation.
At the farm, we are always striving towards becoming as sustainable as possible, and ensuring that we spread the message of Conservation amongs all of our visitors.
With workshops focusing on important conservation factors such as the 'Pollinators', we are giving these children the chance to make a difference for their future. We have a brand new 'Conservation Area', which opened in 2025, where children can explore and learn all about the pollinators, view our WPF beehives, and even before a Flower-Insect-Timed (FIT) count accredited by POMS.
White Post Farm won the DEFRA 'Bees Needs Award' at Kew Gardens in 2025, because of their hard work and dedication to supporting and educating on Conservation.
Our Christmas workshops are held on specific dates throughout December. Our Christmas guided experiences consist of all activities included in a regular guided farm tour, plus a 30-minute Santa Experience where the children get the opportunity to head to Santa's Hideaway, meet the elves and listen to the man himself read a magical story, before taking a photo with the school children, and giving the children their gifts. Our Self-Led Christmas Experience includes a 30-minute Christmas workshop which focuses on our lovely reindeer. In this workshop, the children discover all the things that make reindeer so brilliant, from their habitats to adaptations, followed by a 30-minute Santa Experience like previously mentioned.
Our school offerings can be tailored to a variety of Specific Educational Needs. We have a mix of trained staff who are trained to accommodate Special Educational Needs.
If you are looking to book a school visit for SEN visitors, get in contact with us and we can discuss what we can do to tailor your visits to specific needs.
For over 30 years, we've been entertaining millions of children and adults, giving them the chance to get up close to a wide variety of friendly animals! We have lots of new and exciting things happening at the farm, new enclosures for our animals and even some new animals are joining our White Post Farm family.
We are an RBST Approved Farm Park, accredited by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. We are also an NFAN (National Farms and Attractions Network). As well as these, we are a Farms for Schools member; which aims to ensure that school trips to farms are safe, enjoyable and educationally worthwhile.
