The LOPC (Leicester Outdoor Pursuit Centre) is a 15 Acre site, site in the Heart of Leicester, within walking distance from the City Centre. We providing adventurous outdoor activity experiences designed to stimulate, educate and motivate young people and others at affordable prices in a challenging and safe environment.
As a small independent Charity, with very little restriction over what we can offer, we pride ourselves on being able to adapt our surroundings to suit the needs of the visitors to our site. We support the provision on activities & educational experiences to over 30,000 visitors each year, with something to suit everyone from Age 5 upwards.



Why book Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre for School Trips and Educational Visits?
A former County Council Outdoor Education Training Centre that was closed in the 1990's, the Centre in its current form was re-opened by enthusiasts in 1997, who wanted to continue to provide educational experiences & activities for the community of Leicester & the surrounding area. 21 years on this enthusiasm has not wavered as we continue to provide bespoke educational sessions & activities for visitors to the Centre. With outstanding feedback from teachers & students who come to visit us, we continue to invest in our instructors education, with many of our instructors having been here for 10+ years.
What activities are available during group visits?
Our Stone Age days are a popular edition to the school timetable & learning experience:
- Archery
- Shelter Building
- Fire Lighting
- Charcoal Drawing
- Natural Water filtration
- Bridge Building
- Raft Building
- Bell-boating
Out other activities on site include a variety of High Ropes Activities, Water Activities - including Canoeing, Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle-boarding and many more.
What size groups do you cater for?
Sub-Groups of up to 12 students, as a site we can happily accommodate activities for 150 students at any one time.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
We have both Indoor & Outdoor Classroom Areas, with the latter being a purpose built shelter for schools, complete with hooks for bags & picnic benches to sit approximately 50 people under.
Is there first aid on site?
All instructors on site are Outdoor 1st Aid trained
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
We have fantastic facilities for disabled people, having had approximately £100,000 invested in a Changes places facility with fully accessible facilities: this includes a Loler Hoist, shower & changing bed facilities accessed externally via radar key, whilst we have wide access disabled toilet & changing facility indoors.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes, many of our activities have been adapted to enable us to offer the experience to people with SEND.
Anything else?
Other Ideas as part of a Medieval Day could include Building & launching the mighty 'Trebuchet' that we have on site, Making Shields & your own Medieval Crest.
