Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre for School Trips and Educational Visits?
Outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. Teaching critical life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.
At the Leicester Outdoor Pursuit Centre we strive to work with school groups, not just on specified ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’s’, but throughout the academic year, supporting & enhancing teaching within the curriculum
We provide activities on the ground, on the water and at height to challenge and engage young people. Our activities can be tailored to meet your group’s needs; whether you’re looking to enthuse and motivate pupils to improve their mathematics skills through climbing, provide a confidence boost or promote teamwork on our high ropes, or develop sport specific skills, in Archery or Rifle Shooting
We can provide a bespoke package for your group at very competitive prices.

What activities are available during group visits?
Our range of activities are ideal for teachers who are looking for an introductory activity or a progressive developmental programme for their students. Each of our activities are linked to the programmes of study for the National Curriculum.
With a maximum of just 2 apprentice staff on site, Our staff are highly qualified & provide a high quality, challenging and safe activities for all users.
We use our resources and activities to create opportunities for people to develop as individuals, catering for young people, people with disabilities and other hard to reach groups. We provide risk assessments for all our activities and our Instructors are fully qualified and experienced.
Whatever your request we will endeavour to meet your requirements to the best of our abilities. LOPC has a reputation of working with users to provide activities tailor made to their specific needs.
Whether you’re looking to visit us for one day, or want to arrange a multi activity week or a series of progressive sessions, Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre can cater for your needs and provide high quality Outdoor Education at a low cost.
What size groups do you cater for?
We operate based on a ratio of 1 Instructor with up to 10 users, which can go up to 12 on some activities. We can accommodate total group sizes of up to 150; please call us for availability. We can also take groups of less than 10, and work to ratios as low as 1:1 for participants requiring a higher level of support.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Or 15 Acre site provides a great location for environmental studies, with - hedgerows,
- meadows,
- marshland,
- a pond and
- over 1km of river bank
There is loads of space for fieldwork and plenty to discover.
We have - indoor classrooms and a
- sheltered outdoor classroom area for groups to use,
- hot and cold drinks machines,
- changing rooms and showers (after all, who doesn't enjoy getting a little muddy!)
With Picnic benches also dotted around the site, there’s plenty of space for eating packed lunches.
Is there first aid on site?
All members of our staff hold First Aid Certificates.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes we have recently had a 'Changing Places' Toilet and Wetroom built.
We are able to take disabled participants on most of our activities, including abseiling specifically designed for wheelchair users - please call us to discuss your specific needs. For our low mobility participants, we have a hoist to easily get into and out of boats, as well as aids to assist paddling, a system to get to the top of our tower for zipline and abseil activities, we can run archery, rifles and fencing as seated options too.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Our staff have a wealth of experience at instructing, coaching and assisting participants with learning disabilities, whether in mainstream education or within specialist provision to ensure that everyone gets as much out of visiting our Centre as possible.

Curriculum Enrichment
Here at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, we pride ourselves in providing relevant learning opportunities that allow your pupils to engage in national curriculum content through outdoor education.
We regularly provide curriculum linked activity sessions to school groups, and our staff have a wealth of experience working with pupils of varying abilities from 5 years upwards.
Session Structure
Usually activities last for 90 minutes. However for some activities we can run a longer or shorter session depending on your requirements.
1:8 is our standard ratio for school groups, and is how each group is priced. We can add up to 4 extra people to some of our activities.
Have your residential visit with us
A popular option for visiting groups is to use our camping facilities on-site to extend your stay. You can bring your own tents or rent ours (which includes them being put up for you) and there are various options for the facilities you may need such as a kitchen, rooms inside or a camp fire area.

Who are Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre?
The Leicester Outdoor Pursuit Centre is a Fifteen acres site full of adventurous activities stretching along the bank of the River Soar. This Unique setting allow us to offer something for everyone, with a wide range of water & land activities.
We accept bookings from both groups and individuals, and our activities are adaptable to suit a wide range of ages and abilities.
The Centre is situated on the River Soar to the North of Leicester City Center within walking distance from the National Space Centre, & easily accessible from all major road routes.
There’s plenty of ways for your school to enjoy our outstanding facilities:
• Bring the whole class to experience outdoor activities for PE lessons or days out
• Camp with us for an exciting, challenging residential
• Use outdoor activities as a vehicle for improvement in other subject areas- we can design a bespoke programme for you.
