Sustainability workshops for schools

Engaging online and in-school workshops and memorable out of the classroom visits

What sustainability school trips in the UK teach environmental awareness and green practices?

Sustainability visits focus on recycling, renewables, and conservation - encouraging responsible environmental action.

The Department for Education's sustainability and climate change strategy says that all education settings need to have in place a climate action plan. This includes educating your students by integrating into your curriculum, issues such as biodiversity, decarbonisation and the science of climate change.

Sustainability and 'Green' or 'Eco' issues cover a wide range of subjects. In the past we studied Environmental Science and Geography to see what was happening. Now there is also a focus on Citizenship; how we affect our environment and in turn, what we can do, and need to do, to reverse current unsustainable development practices. As the role of education in putting us on a more sustainable path continues to grow, so does the quality of the workshops available to school groups.

Perhaps you are looking for workshops relating to Biodiversity, Energy, Global Citizenship, Healthy Living, Litter, Marine, School Grounds, Transport, Waste or Water. A sustainability trip or workshop can form part of your climate action plan.

Additional topics we can cater for include: Healthy living; Our Food, agriculture and seasonality; Energy; Supply chains; Recycling and sustainability of materials; Environmental issues from pollution in the air and on land, to the plastic waste in our watercourses and oceans; Biodiversity and habitats; Ecology and our relationship with our environment.

Children can learn about and experience a wide variety of sustainability topics in the form of engaging online workshops, interactive in-school workshops or memorable out of the classroom visits. View our climate change and renewable energy page, our forest school page, or browse the workshops and visits below or use the quick enquiry form to help us tailor the perfect sustainability experience for your group.

Find a school trip or workshop for the following Sustainability topics: Climate change, Conservation, Extreme Weather, Fairtrade, Global warming, Materials and recycling, Plastic pollution, Pollution, Rainforest, Renewable Energy, Sustainable living, and more.

Booking Sustainability School Trips- FAQ

16 February 2026

Why choose sustainability trips?
A sustainability trip or workshop is a great way to teach kids about eco-responsibility, like recycling or visiting green farms, so they can actually act on climate issues. The curriculum focuses on the environment and emphasises how urgent these actions are right now.

Sustainability workshop or day trip?
Workshops are fantastic for generating ideas and usually cost between £150 and £400. Day trips on the other hand, show real examples in action and are perfect for science or geography lessons.

Are there any free sustainability options?
There are! Many local eco-parks offer free tours, and some recycling centers do free visits too. These visits are a great way to introduce sustainability without it costing anything.

Top 10 sustainability school trips (from Green Teams 2026):

1. Eden Project - a fantastic eco-education hub
2. In-school sustainability workshops for quick ideas
3. RSPB reserves for conservation lessons
4. Wind farms to explore renewable energy
5. Local recycling plants to see waste management
6. National Parks to learn about biodiversity
7. Scottish eco-centres for hands-on learning
8. Welsh green farms for farm-to-table sustainability
9. London Wetlands Centre for habitat awareness
10. Beach clean-ups to make an immediate impact

Are sustainability trips suitable for SEND students?
Eden Project has accessible paths, and their workshops are very hands-on. We have also seen many examples of venues using nature as a calming activity, so outdoor access is definitely part of the plan to make it inclusive.

What’s the budget for sustainability trips?
It really depends. A day visit locally might cost just £3-£10 per child. Entry to centres is usually £5-£15, workshops range from £150 to £400, and residential eco trips can be £120-£250 per child. There are also green funds available to help cover costs. Check our funding page.
