Computing Our workshops for KS2 link to several areas of the ICT as well as the Design & Technology curriculum.
Workshops can cover Video Game Design, Stop Motion Animation and AI- thinking about systems and designing for a user, as well as Coding & Robotics designing moon landers, pedometers and games.
Sustainability We aim to work as sustainably as possible. We aim to use recycled products where possible and recycle where possible too.
Our workshops about Sustainable Energy cover the use of Fossil Fuels and the Invention of more sustainable ways of generating electricity. We are trying to inspire the Engineers of the Future to continue to develop ideas of how we can be a more sustainable species.
Design Technology We believe in inspiring every child to see themselves as an inventor and engineer, so they grow up knowing they can shape their world.
Research shows that children form stereotypes about STEM and engineering early on, so we create hands-on, creative experiences that show them from the very youngest age, not only what engineering is, but that it could be for them.
Inventors and Inventions We imagine a world where every child grows up a STEM Hero - confident they can invent, engineer, and shape a better future. And we start by inspiring them today by introducing them, within our workshops and assemblies, to inventors from all over the world, from a range of backgrounds and time spans in human history.
Yes, we are experienced teachers who are familiar with teaching a range of individual needs and who undergo the Silver SEND/ASN Inclusion Training from the Friendly SEND Advisor.
We have a SEND specialist on our team and a consultant who both work to adapt our workshops for schools.
Laura Cross set up Inventors & Makers in 2019 with a mission to help prepare today's children for tomorrow's world.
She originally trained as a lawyer and worked in the city for a few years before finding her true calling in education and teaching in some of London's Outstanding primary schools,
However, it was during her time leading curriculum design at a San Francisco education technology company that she started to think about the world of work that lies ahead for our children.
"We don't know what the jobs of the future will be, but we do know that our children will need to be adaptable, flexible and creative problem solvers."
Susie McAuley joined the company in early 2022 as lead teacher, delivering after-school clubs and workshops to schools in person and contributing to development of virtual clubs, classes and workshops.
Susie has been teaching for more than 30 years in schools in the UK and all over the world. She has been a computing lead and STEM coordinator as well as a class teacher so she knows exactly how to deliver what teachers are looking for. She covers schools booking in Hampshire, Surrey, London, Kent, West Sussex and anywhere her campervan can get to!
We have welcomed several Inventioneers into our group who can now offer in-person workshops in the Tyneside, Reading and Haywards Heath areas.
10% off bookings in December or January
As teachers, we spend years researching and then inviting visitors into our classrooms - STEM specialists, sports coaches, theatre groups etc. You might have sometimes wondered: What would it be like to do that job instead? For many, the idea of stepping out of the classroom but staying in education is hugely appealing. You still get to inspire children and work with schools, but without marking piles, late-night planning or endless meetings and data drops. That's why more and more teachers are looking at education franchises in the UK as a flexible next step.
