Residential Trip

trip icon St Michael's is located in Hathersage, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, we provide high quality outdoor learning opportunities and accommodation.

School groups benefit from exclusive use and work with a small team of dedicated and professional staff. The centre offers exceptional opportunities to enhance the school curriculum with a range of activities, all designed to take advantage of the landscape surrounding the centre with its rich history and geography.

Private groups are welcome to hire the centre on weekends and school holidays and take advantage of its special location and facilities.

The centre has 10 bat detectors and identification guides which can be used on
the evening to explore local bat activity.
Students will get the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife such as cows and sheep on the various walks that we have around the centre.

Orienteering

We challenge students to try new activities and gain new skills in a variety of physical settings. Often the students will never have been exposed to such activities and many of them will not know that they existed!

What size groups do we cater for?

38 beds in 7 dormitories
2 x 2 bed (teacher rooms), 1 x 4 bed, 2 x 6 bed, 1 x 8 bed and 1 x 10 bed dormitories

Two single adult bathrooms

April 2022 to April 2023. Based on full occupancy (34 children) prices for a 2 night stay, including our catering package start from £89.50 per child. Self-catering from £62. 20% discount on accommodation costs for residential visits during Dec/Jan.

Who are Notts Outdoors?

Notts Outdoors provides outdoor learning opportunities for young people in Nottinghamshire and beyond.

We work with schools, colleges, youth groups, employers to enhance the lives of young people. We aim to teach confidence, awaken adventure and immerse students in what the great outdoors and nature have to teach us.

We have 8 centres across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, all offering something different and unique. Our two residential centres, St Michael's and Hagg Farm, are located in the outstanding natural beauty of the Peak District National Park. In Nottinghamshire, we have a wilderness experience camp - Camp Redwood located near Clumber Park, and four environmental education day centres, Perlethorpe, Brackenhurst, Sherwood, Rushcliffe and the Mill Adventure Base.

Forest Schools Accredited Practitioners
Forest Schools are nature-based communities where trained practitioners nurture learner-led exploration and discovery, nurturing meaningful experiences for positive lifelong impacts. Two of our staff members, Katie and Simon, are Accredited to Level 3 Practitioner Award with Forest Schools.
