Ancient Civilisations workshops
Looking to teach about a non-European ancient civilisation for KS2 history? We have a wide range of workshops designed to enrich your students' knowledge of Early Islamic civilizations like Baghdad where art and science were far ahead of their neighbouring Europeans. The truly ancient Sumer civilisation who settled in Mesopotamia and the region known as the Fertile Crescent. The Bronze Age Indus Valley people who constructed amazing cities that could probably put modern day urban planners to shame. The mysterious Mayan empire that spread through a large area of modaren day Mexico and who gave us the cocoa bean. Mmm, lovely chocolate. The Edo people of the Benin, West Africa whose Royal palaces were a symbol of their trading expertise. The secretive Shang Dynasty - the earliest dynastic rulers of China, who heralded the arrival of the Bronze Age through their developments in science and technology. And of course the Ancient Greeks and Egyptians, who need no introduction.
The workshops below focus on themes such as the phenominal achievements of these ancient communities during Britain's Dark Ages. Share with your students stories of amazing inventions and technical developments, cultures and belief systems, art and social history. These school workshops are designed to show the contrast with the evolution of Britsh history as well as the many aspects of these amazing civilisations that survive through to the modern day. Delivered through a range of story telling, acting, hands on demonstrations and immersive learning, we can help you find the perfect workshop for your class.
