If you are learning about Ancient Greece with your pupils, then a drama workshop can really bring the topic to life ' allowing children to explore the way people lived, the challenges they faced and how life for Ancient Greek people differed from life today. If you book an Ancient Greeks drama workshop, your pupils will learn about the following areas of the curriculum:
• How people lived in Ancient Greece including farming, the weather, the challenges they faced
• The City States including how they were ruled and what each was famous for
• Myths including Narcissus, Theseus & The Minotaur, Medusa and Heracles
• The Gods and Goddesses
• The first Olympics, how people travelled to it, what events took place and how the Olympics evolved
We use a wide range of drama techniques to engage children in the topic, allowing everyone to access the session and for a huge amount of learning to take place in a short time.
Our drama days can be used at any stage of curriculum delivery - early in the term for a wow starter, in the middle of a topic to bring it to life and embed learning, or at the end of the topic for that ultimate sticky knowledge boost, helping children make memories and retain the information for years to come.

For one class of children - a Learn and Perform Day.
For two or more classes - an Explore Day.
A Learn and Perform Day gives 1 class of pupils the opportunity to create a performance all about this topic in just 1 day - which they present at the end of the school day to an invited audience.
An Explore Day gives up to 4 classes of pupils the chance to participate in an exciting, action-packed drama workshop full of creativity, fun and topic learning too!

Our drama sessions support the development of inter-personal skills such as communication, team-work, problem solving and mutual respect. Exploring history through drama helps children to empathise with others, learn about different communities, democracies, societies and ways of life which builds their understanding of their place in the wider world.
Performing Arts Workshop
All of our activities are designed to support children's learning in Drama and Performing Arts.
Through carefully planned activities and exercises, children use their bodies and voices expressively, develop their imaginations and learn new theatrical vocabulary.

Children will take part in drama activities all about the ancient civilisation in Greece. They'll explore how people lived, how society was organised and what the Ancient Greeks believed. They'll also reflect on how life in Athens differs from our life today.
Pupils will learn about Greek myths including Heracles, Medusa, Narcissus and Theseus and the Minotaur, exploring the stories and the characters. They'll explore Greek Gods, including Zeus, and their attributes and relationships. And they'll learn about the City States and the Athenians, Spartans and more including the politics, architecture and mythology.
And, of course, it wouldn't be right to leave out the Olympics - children will learn about the first ever Olympic Games, what it included and how people travelled to it.
Ancient Civilisations Workshop
Ancient Greeks
Children will take part in drama activities all about the ancient civilisation in Greece. They'll explore how people lived, how society was organised and what the Ancient Greek people believed. They'll also reflect on how Ancient Greek life differs from our life today.
Pupils will learn about Greek Myths including Heracles, Medusa, Narcissus and Theseus and the Minotaur, exploring the stories and the characters. They'll explore Greek Gods and their attributes and relationship as well as learning about the City States and how reek society was ruled.

Who are Altru?
Altru Drama is a creative education company, established in 2005. We use drama as a tool to increase topic understanding, build confidence, explore issues and develop personal and social skills.
