Animals including humans School Workshops
Introducing science and the study of animals
Animals topic workshops for the science curriculum
Part of the Science curriculum for every year group in KS1 and KS2, the topic 'Animals, including humans', is a wide ranging and interesting subject for children that teaches them about the different types of animals we share our planet with, not forgetting ourselves!
Younger year groups will be learning the differences between common animals such as birds, fish, amphibians and mammals, as well as the habitats each one lives in.
As children progress through school, this Animals including humans topic should teach them about shelter, basic needs such as food and water, how animals grow and how their bodies are structured.
A big part of the topic is about ourselves - humans. What do we need to survive, how do our bodies work, and what do our bodies need to perform at their best. This allows younger children to get to grips with bones and skeletons, muscles and skin, blood and the circulatory system, as well as senses like hearing and smell.
To support your teaching of this topic, we have a wide range of specialist workshops and visits. Whether you are looking for a basic introduction to different types of animals for a Year 1 group, or a fun and engaging look at the human circulatory system for your Year 6 class, we can help find you the perfect workshop to support your classroom learning.
