person icon The Drama Hut

At The Drama Hut, we offer live and interactive workshops, available online or on-site using drama-based activities including, improvisation, role play, movement and song, bringing topic to life, encouraging and enhancing learning in a creative environment.

Black History is recognised as an important event in every primary school diary. This year, alongside our popular Mary Seacole and Rosa Parks workshops, we are introducing a brand new workshop from WW2 - A Warden's Tale. Learn about and celebrate the life of Ita Ekpenyan, the only known black Air raid warden in the United Kingdom during WW2.

"The actor was engaging and informative, and did a brilliant job of bringing the topic to life. We also appreciated the inclusion of the Black Lives Matter movement to have a powerful discussion with young people about racism in today's society, in which the discussion was facilitated in a sensitive and age appropriate manner."
St Peter's C of E Primary School - Year 6

"The Drama Hut provides an excellent service and this session was truly fantastic! I was particularly impressed with how well this was done virtually. The actors use of authentic accents and costume instantly hooked the children and they were engaged throughout.....an amazing, immersive experience. The actor was so knowledgeable and able to answer the children's questions to a very high standard. She also handled the topic of discrimination sensitively and the children responded well to this."
