Business Studies

Business, Economics and Entrepreneurship

Reading heavy text books about economic theories is great for student's theoretical knowledge, but seeing business processes in action during a business studies school trip and having their day to day processes explained can quickly develop your students' understanding of complex subjects like business, economics and entrepreneurship.

Organising a business studies school trip can be as simple as getting permission to look around a local company that operates a short distance from your school, but if you are looking for something a bit more structured, with guidance from people who are used to explaining processes to young students, we can help. We work with a number of venues who specialise in showing school groups how they operate from a business perspective.

Whether you are studying a small company or a global corporation, economics and finance or sales marketing - your trip can be tailored to match the key study topics you are covering in the classroom, and is a perfect way to use case studies to engage and motivate your pupils to dig deeper into the subject and to foster the drive to develop their own skills that will take them beyond the classroom and into the world of work. For a broader view of macroeconomics, or to study the economic importance of city centres, we can also offer student and budget friendly city centre accommodation for multi day business studies trips.

Enterprise and entrepreneurship

Work experience is no longer a statutory requirement for schools and a critical Ofsted report into the, "availability and effectiveness of enterprise education and work-related learning for pupils in secondary schools", found a majority of secondary schools lacked coherent planning or had no clear strategy for the delivery of enterprise education.

For schools to give their pupils the best preparation for entering the work place, alongside a good understanding of history and the world around them, they need to take a proactive approach to enterprise teaching. For pupils to achieve the skills required by employers or to possess the enterprise skills, the Department for Education adopted the Gatsby Benchmarks. This code of best practice range from provision of a stable careers programme, to encounters with employers and experiences of the workplace. Give us a call if you would like ideas and inspiration to support your school's enterprise teaching.

Find a school trip or workshop for the following Business topics: Enterprise and Leadership, Finance and Accounts, Marketing, Operations Management, Supply and Demand, and more.
