Our KS2 Roller Coaster Science workshop introduces the concepts of gravity, air resistance, forces and pneumatics. Students will have the opportunity to experience forces first hand with a go on one of the smaller rides.Curriculum topics available: Animals including humans, Evolution and inheritance, Digestive System, Ecology and environment, Minibeasts, Habitats, Plants, Living things and habitats, Life Cycles, Underwater Animals and Habitats, Nutrition and digestion (KS3/4), Reproduction (KS3/4), Relationships in an ecosystem (KS3/4), Evolution inheritance and variation (KS3/4), Forest School.
Our biology workshops will teach students about a range of animals and plants. They will learn about anatomy, evolution and adaptation, the ecology and biodiversity of different habitats and ecosystems, diets, lifecycles and food chains, forests, and much more about the fauna and flora of the natural world. We even offer the chance to see minibeasts up close during sessions and larger animals on our tours.Curriculum topics available: Marketing, Supply and Demand, Operations Management.
Our business workshop encompasses the whole of Flamingo Land and will explain the skills needed to improve your chances of getting into the industry of your choice, as well as giving an insight into how the company budgets and creates revenue and profit through marketing and customer serviceCurriculum topics available: Water cycles, Rivers, Map and atlas, Rainforest, Environment, Polar Regions, Climate zones and biomes .
Workshops include African rangers, Rainforests, Habitats and Conservation and Sustainability. These will explain the biodiversity of different environments, from deserts to the polar regions, wildlife and conservation, rainforests and the threat of deforestation. Our rainforest themed classroom will give students an immersive experience with the chance to get close to a variety of exotic species.Curriculum topics available: Plastic pollution, Rainforest, Sustainable living, Global warming, Climate change, Conservation, Fairtrade.
Our workshops on Habitats, Rainforests, Conservation and Sustainability and Good Zoo Bad Zoo, offer a wide range of topics focusing on conservation and threats like pollution, climate change, global warming and deforestation. Solutions such as renewables, recycling and sustainability are all covered and students will be able to learn and see a variety of exotic animals that are suffering in the wild, while learning how we are trying to conserve themOur staff are experienced at teaching SEND individuals.
Generally schools book one workshop and one tour per class. If there is a large group above 35 students, we advise that they are split into smaller groups.
Once the workshops have ended or if you are waiting for the workshop to begin you are more than welcome to walk around the Zoo and Children's Planet. You are also welcome to watch the bird or sea lion shows providing that your group enters and settles before the show begins.
We have free bag storage for all students and staff booked onto our educational sessions. Outdoor picnic areas and limited indoor lunch space are also available.
We offer free pre-visits for up to two teachers per class for those booked onto educational sessions.
