Art-based workshops can be delivered by our dedicated education officer through our 'Topic Days' workshop sessions. Use the museum collections as inspiration to create giant drawings, discover the different materials and patterns featured in the historic house, and explore the different seasons through creative practices. Each workshop is adapted to suit your needs so if you have an idea in mind, please get in touch.
Lotherton's zoo, Wildlife World, contributes to conservation initiatives by taking part in European breeding programmes and aims to raise awareness of endangered animals and plant species. Workshops cover subject topics including habitats, adaptations, and classification.
Lotherton has family connections to Florence Nightingale and our specialist workshop on the lady with the lamp introduces pupils to her as a girl and young woman, her decision to become a nurse, and opportunities to be interactive with museum objects.
Introduce students to WW1 and WW2 in our dedicated workshops which include interactive object handling sessions. Find out what life was like for local people when Lotherton became a Voluntary Aid Detachment hospital in the First World War, and take part in evacuation role play as part of the WW2 workshop.

Our biology-focused workshops include sessions on how animals adapt to different environments, the habitats they live in, classification of species, and what types of food different animals eat in order to survive.
Explore the animals, plants and resources found in rainforests around the world in Lotherton's dedicated rainforest workshop. Set in Wildlife World, Lotherton's conservation zoo, pupils will have the opportunity to get up close to exotic birds and mammals and discover how they adapt to rainforest life.
