Which Curriculum Subjects do we cater for?

green tick Languages Click to expand

Rondo Travel specializes in offering unique educational experiences that enrich the language curriculum for schools through immersive, overseas trips. Our Combined Languages-Strasbourg & Black Forest Tours are meticulously designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world application in a vibrant, cross-cultural setting.

Here’s how we deliver on this educational promise:

1. Language Immersion
Students are immersed in environments where both French and German are spoken, encouraging them to use and improve their language skills in authentic settings. Through interactions with locals, guided tours, and cultural activities, students practice listening, speaking, and comprehension skills beyond the classroom walls.

2. Cultural Integration
Understanding a language also means understanding the culture it comes from. Our tours include visits to significant cultural and historical sites, such as the Strasbourg Cathedral, the European Parliament, and traditional Alsace and Black Forest regions. These experiences deepen students’ appreciation of the language and the cultures that shape it.

3. Educational Visits
We organize educational visits to places of interest that are not just tourist attractions but are rich in cultural and linguistic heritage. For example, a guided town trail in Strasbourg offers insights into the city’s history, enhancing students' language learning with contextual knowledge.

4. Tailored Itineraries
Recognizing the diverse needs of each school group, we tailor itineraries to align with specific curriculum goals and language levels. Whether it's a focus on conversational practice or understanding regional dialects, our tours are customized to meet educational objectives.

5. Inclusive Learning Environment
We cater to students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities and special educational needs (SEN), ensuring that learning opportunities are accessible to all. This inclusive approach fosters an environment where every student can participate in and benefit from the language learning experience.

6. Comprehensive Support
From the planning stage to the trip itself, schools have a dedicated point of contact at Rondo Travel, ensuring a seamless experience. This support includes risk assessments, free teacher places, and assistance with any educational or logistical questions that arise.

7. Certified Quality
As members of the School Travel Forum and holders of the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, our commitment to high-quality, educational travel experiences is evident. Schools can trust in our expertise and dedication to delivering enriching language learning trips.

Rondo Travel’s Combined Languages-Strasbourg & Black Forest Tours provide an exceptional opportunity for students to enhance their language skills through immersive experiences. Our approach to integrating language learning with cultural exploration aligns with curriculum objectives, making these trips an invaluable addition to any school’s language program.

green tick Citizenship Click to expand

Rondo Travel's Combined Languages-Strasbourg & Black Forest Tours offer an enriching platform for schools to integrate the curriculum subject of Citizenship into their overseas trip, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of European identity, cultural diversity, and democratic values.

Here's how we deliver on these educational objectives:
1. Understanding European Institutions
Our tours to Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament, serve as a practical lesson in European governance and politics. Visiting the European Parliament offers students a unique opportunity to see where and how EU decisions are made, promoting an understanding of transnational governance, democratic processes, and the importance of civic engagement.

2. Exploring Cultural Diversity
The Strasbourg and Black Forest region embodies the blend of French and German cultures, making it an ideal backdrop for discussing themes of cultural diversity, identity, and unity. Through guided tours and interactive experiences, students can explore how diverse cultures coexist and contribute to the region's rich heritage, fostering a sense of European citizenship and mutual respect among different communities.

3. Engaging with Historical Contexts
Visits to historical sites such as the Alsace Memorial and Le Struthof offer insights into Europe's complex history, including World War II and the Holocaust. These visits encourage students to reflect on the importance of remembering history, understanding the consequences of intolerance, and the value of peace and reconciliation in building a cohesive society.

4. Promoting Language Skills as a Tool for Global Citizenship
By integrating French and German language learning into the tour, we emphasize the importance of communication skills in fostering international understanding and cooperation. This approach aligns with the principles of global citizenship, where language competence is seen not just as an academic achievement but as a means to bridge cultural divides.

5. Inclusive Experiences
Rondo Travel is committed to inclusivity, ensuring that students with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN) have full access to all learning opportunities. This commitment underscores the values of equality and non-discrimination, key components of the Citizenship curriculum.

6. Sustainability and Environmental Awareness
Through visits to natural sites like the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest, students are encouraged to consider their environmental impact and the importance of sustainable living practices. This aspect of the tour supports lessons in environmental citizenship, teaching students about their responsibility towards preserving natural resources for future generations.

7. Personal and Social Development
Participating in a group tour abroad fosters personal growth, independence, and social skills. Students learn to navigate new environments, work as a team, and develop empathy through shared experiences, reinforcing the social and personal competencies essential for responsible citizens.

Rondo Travel’s approach to delivering the Citizenship curriculum on overseas trips is multifaceted, focusing on immersive experiences that encourage students to engage with historical, cultural, and political aspects of European society. Through tailored itineraries that emphasize active learning, inclusivity, and reflection, we aim to inspire the next generation of informed, responsible, and globally-minded citizens.

Who are Rondo Travel?

Situated as the headquarters of the European Parliament, Strasbourg holds a central position in Europe, drawing numerous visitors eager to explore its European institutions. However, Strasbourg, nestled in the Alsace region and its German borderlands, offers a rich tapestry of experiences beyond its parliamentary significance.

The iconic parliament buildings are accessible for tours, and interested individuals are encouraged to coordinate their visits through their local Members of the European Parliament. Once the visit dates are confirmed, our team is ready to assist in organizing the remainder of your stay.

Strasbourg itself is a captivating city, blending both French and German influences seamlessly. For educational institutions facing challenges in arranging visits for both French and German departments, Strasbourg presents a unique opportunity for a unified excursion catering to students of both languages. This consolidated visit not only exposes students to a broader cultural spectrum but also provides each group with the chance to utilize and immerse themselves in their chosen language of study. Simultaneously, it fosters an understanding of the advantages of possessing diverse language skills within a European context.

Venturing beyond the city, the Vosges Mountains and the Alsatian wine route beckon, featuring charming market towns like Obernai. Colmar boasts picturesque architecture and a network of delightful canals, while Mullhouse, to the south, houses the renowned Schlumpf motor collection and the French National Railway Museum.

Crossing the Rhine to the east, Offenburg and Freiburg in Germany, along with the enchanting Black Forest, offer further cultural exploration. A visit to Titisee is particularly rewarding, providing insight into the craftsmanship behind cuckoo clocks and an opportunity to enjoy a scenic lake excursion. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, the high-quality theme park, EUROPAPARK, awaits just within the German border.

At Rondo Travel, we place paramount importance on comprehending your unique requirements, customising tours to align with your needs rather than adhering strictly to the preferences of tour operators. Rest assured, all our tours come with financial protection under the ABTA and ATOL schemes. As founding members of the School Travel Forum, we take pride in being among the pioneering school tour operators to receive the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
