Example Itineraries for our 2026 trips

This serves as a sample itinerary; however, all our itineraries are tailored to meet your specific preferences and needs.

Day 1: Commence your journey to Germany, considering a brief stop in Köln if time permits.

Day 2: Embark on a picturesque adventure by taking the cable car to the Niederwald Denkmal from Rüdesheim. Wander through the vineyards, followed by a chair lift descent into Assmannshausen. Conclude this scenic excursion by catching a ferry back to Rüdesheim along the river. In Rüdesheim, explore the captivating collection of instruments at Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet. As you return down the river, marvel at the Loreley Rock and its visitor center. Opt to visit the charming riverside town of Boppard, renowned for its year-round Christmas Shop. Boppard also offers outdoor swimming and an additional chairlift ride for a different perspective of the river. Alternatively, cruise past the Loreley to reach Boppard directly along the river.

Day 3: Delve into the enchanting Mosel Valley, starting with a visit to Burg Eltz. Spend some leisure time in Cochem, exploring its castle and perhaps indulging in a refreshing swim. On your journey back, partake in a wine (or juice) tasting experience.

Day 4: Enjoy a day of leisure and excitement at Phantasialand theme park.

Day 5: Conclude your journey with a return trip, making a stop in Aachen along the way.

Which Curriculum Subjects do we cater for?

History

When participating in a Rondo Travel School Germany Tour-Rhine & Mosel, teachers and students are immersed in a rich educational experience that brings history to life outside the traditional classroom setting. Our approach to delivering the history curriculum during your overseas trip involves a combination of guided tours, interactive visits to historical sites, and engaging educational materials tailored to each destination.

Here's how we ensure your students receive a comprehensive historical learning experience:

-Guided Tours of Historical Sites: We arrange for expert local guides who are well-versed in the history of the Rhine and Mosel valleys. These guides provide detailed narratives and insights into the historical significance of each site visited, including castles, monuments, and towns. For example, a visit to Burg Eltz offers a deep dive into medieval German history, showcasing architecture, daily life in the past, and the significance of such castles in European history.

-Interactive Educational Materials: Prior to the visit, we provide teachers with educational materials that can be used to prepare students for what they will experience. These materials include historical context, key figures, and events related to the locations they will visit, ensuring students can actively engage and connect with each site's historical significance.

-Engagement with Local Culture and Traditions: Understanding history also involves experiencing the culture that has grown from it. Through interactions with local communities, participation in traditional events, and visits to museums like Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet, students gain insights into how history has shaped present-day cultural practices and traditions in the Rhine and Mosel regions.

-Reflection and Discussion Sessions: We encourage schools to allocate time for students to reflect on their experiences and discuss what they've learned each day. These sessions help reinforce historical knowledge, encourage critical thinking, and allow students to share their insights and perspectives on the historical sites and events they've encountered.

-Customized Itineraries to Align with Curriculum Needs: Understanding that each school may have specific curriculum goals, we work closely with teachers to tailor itineraries that focus on particular historical periods, themes, or events. Whether it's emphasizing the Roman influence in the region, exploring the medieval history through its castles, or understanding the Rhine's role in European conflicts, our tours are designed to meet your educational objectives.

-Accessibility and Inclusivity: We ensure that students with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN) are fully supported, making history accessible to all. Our team advises on the most suitable historical sites that are accessible and provides any necessary accommodations to ensure every student can participate fully in the learning experience.

Rondo Travel's commitment to delivering a rich historical curriculum during your overseas trip ensures that students not only learn about history but also experience it firsthand. Through immersive experiences, tailored educational content, and expert guidance, we bring the past to life, providing students with a deeper understanding of the world's historical heritage.

Languages

Rondo Travel's School Germany Tour-Rhine & Mosel is meticulously designed to enhance students' language learning experience by immersing them in authentic German-speaking environments, thereby aligning perfectly with the curriculum subject of Languages. Our approach to facilitating language learning during your overseas trip encompasses several key strategies to ensure students not only practice their German language skills but also gain confidence and proficiency.

Here's how we deliver this curriculum subject:
-Language Immersion in Daily Interactions: From the moment students arrive in Germany, they are encouraged to use their German language skills in real-life situations. This includes interactions at hotels, restaurants, and shops, as well as with guides and local residents. Such immersive experiences are invaluable for reinforcing language skills learned in the classroom.

-Guided Tours in German: Wherever possible, we arrange for guided tours to be conducted in German. This not only provides context to the historical and cultural sites visited but also enhances listening comprehension skills. Students get to practice understanding spoken German in various accents and dialects, further enriching their linguistic competence.

-Language Workshops and Classes: Depending on the preferences and objectives of the visiting school group, we can incorporate German language workshops and classes into the itinerary. These sessions are tailored to the students' proficiency levels and are designed to focus on specific aspects of the language, such as vocabulary expansion, conversational skills, or grammar reinforcement.

-Cultural Experiences and Activities: Engaging in cultural activities offers students practical opportunities to apply their language skills while learning about German customs and traditions. For instance, participating in a local cooking class, attending a cultural workshop, or engaging in a community event allows students to communicate in German in enjoyable and contextually rich settings.

-Educational Materials in German: Prior to and during the trip, we provide educational materials in German, such as worksheets, scavenger hunts, or quizzes related to the sites visited. These materials are designed to be both informative and interactive, prompting students to use their language skills actively as they explore.

-Support for Teachers and Students: We ensure that teachers have the resources and support they need to facilitate language learning during the trip. This includes providing tips for integrating language objectives into each day's activities, suggestions for language exercises, and tools for assessing students' language use and engagement.

-Customizable Itineraries: Recognizing that each school has unique language learning goals, our itineraries are fully customizable. We work closely with teachers to understand their specific objectives and tailor the language learning components of the trip accordingly, whether the focus is on conversational practice, cultural immersion, or academic language use.

-Inclusivity and Accessibility: For students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities, we ensure that language learning opportunities are accessible and adapted to meet their needs, providing an inclusive environment where all students can participate and benefit from the language immersion experience.

Through these approaches, Rondo Travel's School Germany Tour-Rhine & Mosel offers a comprehensive and enriching language learning experience. Our goal is to ensure that students return home with improved German language skills, a deeper understanding of German culture, and memories that will inspire their continued language learning journey.

Who are Rondo Travel?

The Rhine Valley is widely regarded as the quintessential starting point for school groups seeking to immerse their students in German life and culture, making it the most sought-after destination in Germany. Spanning from the Swiss border in the south to the Dutch border in the west, the Rhine River courses through Germany, with the picturesque stretch from Rüdesheim to the northern reaches of Koblenz recognized as the Rhineland by British tourists.

This region, often referred to as the Romantic Rhine by locals, features a breathtaking gorge adorned with vineyards and crowned by majestic castles on its steep slopes. Renowned for its rich blend of legend and history, the Rhine Valley captivates visitors with its undeniable charm. A preferred and immersive way to experience the allure of this scenic river is through a leisurely cruise, allowing for a nuanced appreciation of the landscape.

At Rondo Travel, our primary focus is comprehending your unique needs and customizing tours to align with your preferences, rather than adhering solely to the tour operator's standards. Be assured that all our tours benefit from financial protection through the ABTA & ATOL schemes. As proud founders of the school travel forum, we stand out as one of the pioneering school tour operators to be honored with the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
