One Day Creative
One Day is a forward-thinking creative education company, connecting children and learning with creativity and imagination. In this Black History KS1 workshop, pupils will uncover the inspirational stories of two key Black History heroes: Nelson Mandela and Rosa Parks. Using drama activities and group discussion, they will bring the actions and achievements of these important figures to life. A fantastic Black History workshop for primary schools to kickstart creative learning around the civil rights movement, exploring big themes such as equality, discrimination and differences along the way.

Performing Arts WorkshopAll our workshops use drama, dance and/or movement to stimulate learning and capture children's imaginations. Our team of performing arts professionals have a range of activities up their sleeve to ensure your chosen topic is as accessible and engaging as possible for your pupils.
We also make sure to tie in key curriculum objectives linked to your chosen topic. Our extensive range of school workshops cover History, STEM, Geography, World Culture, PSHE and more.
Black History WorkshopThis Black History school workshop for KS1 focuses on two significant figures: Nelson Mandela and Rosa Parks. Using drama and discussion, we will introduce pupils to these key figures, their stories and historical context. This allows us to introduce themes of equality and discrimination. By looking at the lives of Nelson Mandela and Rosa Parks, we also can begin to discuss the U.S. civil rights movement.
Absolutely! Our method of working, using the performing arts as a vehicle for learning, is naturally inclusive so please do reach out if you'd like to have One Day in your specialist setting.
We recognise that our workshops have been designed for mainstream settings and, therefore, may not be appropriate for all specialist contexts. However, we can make some reasonable adaptations to workshops when delivering in specialist schools so that pupils can access the learning.
We'll work with you to understand your pupils' needs and offer all the information you need to make an informed choice about our services. You know your pupils best. Equally, we always work in pupils' best interests. If we don't think we can provide what your pupils need, we'll let you know.
One Day's range of interactive school workshops harness the power of the performing arts. We have a talented team of facilitators based across the country, ready to bring core curriculum topics to life right in your school hall.
Our workshops are ideal because we do all the hard work for you. On the day of the workshop, all we need is a large clear space to work in – our friendly facilitator will take care of the rest! From the moment you enquire, our central office team are on hand to answer any questions, make suggestions and tailor your day to your school's needs.
