One Day is a forward-thinking creative education company, connecting children and learning with creativity and imagination. In this drama workshop, you'll be joined by a facilitator to explore three geologic phenomena: earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis! Hundreds of earthquakes shake the earth every day. Meanwhile, boiling hot lava erupts from volcanoes around the world. In coastal communities, tsunamis are feared as they wreak devastation. But what causes them all to happen? How do humans protect themselves? It's time to harness your performing arts skills and find out!

What activities are available during this school workshop?
In this Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tsunamis workshop, your class will have the opportunity to express ideas and feelings through voice, movement, role play and drama. In addition, they will:
- Explore the key aspects of the physical geography of earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis
- Examine current natural disasters and significant historical incidents
- Discuss what life would be like if natural disaster occurred in your area

During the course of the workshop day, our drama facilitator will guide your class through exploration of the various myths behind earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis. You'll learn the science behind why they occur and the human experience of when they strike.

>What size groups do we cater for?
We can deliver workshops to up to 4 classes in a school day, depending on the type of workshop and age group of the classes involved. Each session caters for a maximum of 35 children.
Groups with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Our method of working, using the performing arts as a vehicle for learning, is naturally inclusive so please do reach out if you'd like to have One Day in your specialist setting. We recognise that our workshops have been designed for mainstream settings and, therefore, may not be appropriate for all specialist contexts. However, we can make some reasonable adaptations to workshops when delivering in specialist schools so that pupils can access the learning.
We'll work with you to understand your pupils' needs and offer all the information you need to make an informed choice about our services. You know your pupils best. Equally, we always work in pupils' best interests. If we don't think we can provide what your pupils need, we'll let you know.
