What activities are available during educational visits?

• Invertebrates & their Habitats: Embark on a minibeast hunt looking in various habitats such as tree, leaf litter, and meadows collecting creatures before discovering their identity and their preference for their habitats.

• Freshwater Ecology/Pondering about Ponds: Visit our lakes looking for aquatic creatures! Using your net, collection trays and identification cards, we head out learning about water, its qualities and who lives beneath the surface.

• Birds & their Abilities: Ever wondered how birds fly? or why some have different wing shapes? We look at adaptations and how these work for a range of different bird species by looking at skulls, wings and bones. Then head out with our binoculars and put our new-found knowledge into practice!

• Bees, Pollen & Plants: How do plants produce pollen and why is it important? Learn about the benefits of pollinators, and what makes a pollinator through our educational session targeted at one of our favourite creatures.. bees! Have a gander at the various plants around the Garden before looking at butterflies, bees and how exact they collect the pollen.

We can also run private group events focusing on more general topics such as Moth Mornings, Bat Walks and wildlife walks.
