by Statfold Narrow Gauge Railway Museum & Trust

Hands on interactive history. Statfold blends learning with fun!

Set within 1,000 acres of stunning Staffordshire countryside, Statfold is just a stones-throw from the large market town of Tamworth, making the venue ideally placed in the heart of England. Statfold is home to the most significant collection of narrow gauge locomotives in the UK, with over 30 steam locomotives and many internal combustion locomotives. Our Museum exists to build and maintain railway and transport history and to make it accessible to current and future generations, through the maintenance and selective operation of historic locomotives and rolling stock.

Visits could include learning about the wildlife and natural habitats surrounding us, history of the railways, or how steam transport works and why historically it is so important. Education trips at Statfold fit in with the national curriculum on numerous levels, not only the obvious STEM elements and History, but also by encouraging pupils to think independently and problem solve all whilst having fun!
