Discover history, biology and wildlife in one country estate
LothertonLotherton is a beautiful Edwardian country estate with a historic museum and Wildlife World zoo.
School groups are welcome to visit the estate all year round to explore it through the changing seasons. The estate offers a range of workshops covering natural sciences in the zoo and local history in the museum, led by our education team.
Wildlife World is an evolving zoo and welcomes more animals each season, so is a great place to explore National Curriculum topics such as habitats, adaptations, and classification. Resident penguins, flamingos, tapir, porcupines, and nocturnal species are just some of the animals you can see and learn about at Lotherton.
The former country home, now museum, provides an immersive setting for discovering local history in Leeds. Handle amazing objects, meet famous faces, and join in role-play activities which encourage creative learning, through our interactive workshops.
The huge grounds, gardens and two playgrounds provide plenty of outdoor space for children and grown-ups to explore. You can also watch the majestic deer from their hide in Deer Park Corner. There is a café on site, and we have dedicated education rooms available for breakout sessions and lunchtime.
