green tick Languages

Click to read full text Incorporating language learning into a school trip with Rondo Travel, especially to a diverse and culturally rich destination like Volcanic Lanzarote, offers a multifaceted approach to language education. Here's how we integrate language learning into our educational visits:

Immersive Language Experiences
Our trips are designed to immerse students in the Spanish language from the moment they arrive in Lanzarote. By engaging with local communities, students have the opportunity to practice their language skills in real-life situations, enhancing their listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension abilities. This practical application of language skills is invaluable and often more impactful than classroom learning alone.

Cultural Exploration
Understanding a language also involves understanding the culture it comes from. Our itineraries include visits to significant cultural and historical sites, such as the César Manrique House Museum, where students can learn about the island's heritage and the influence of Spanish culture. These experiences provide context to the language lessons and help students appreciate the nuances of Spanish.

Tailored Language Activities
To specifically cater to language learning objectives, we can incorporate activities that focus on language acquisition. This might include guided tours in Spanish, language workshops with local educators, and interactive activities designed to practice language skills. These activities are tailored to the proficiency level of the students to ensure they are both challenging and achievable.

Language Integration in Everyday Interactions
We encourage students to use Spanish in their day-to-day interactions, whether they're ordering food at a local restaurant, asking for directions, or shopping. This constant exposure and need to communicate in Spanish naturally boosts their confidence and proficiency.

Support for All Levels
Recognizing the diverse language abilities of students, we ensure that our activities and experiences cater to all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. We provide materials and support to help teachers prepare their students before the trip, ensuring that every student can participate fully and benefit from the language learning opportunities.

Reflective Learning
We promote reflective learning practices, encouraging students to journal or discuss their daily experiences in Spanish. This reflection helps consolidate their learning and provides a personal record of their language development during the trip.

Accessibility and Inclusivity
Rondo Travel is committed to inclusivity, ensuring that students with disabilities or special educational needs are supported in their language learning journey. We work closely with teachers to understand and accommodate any specific needs, ensuring all students have equal opportunities to engage with and learn the language.

By focusing on immersive and interactive experiences, Rondo Travel facilitates a dynamic environment for language learning. Our approach goes beyond traditional classroom methods, offering students a memorable and effective way to enhance their language skills while exploring the beautiful island of Lanzarote.

What size groups do we cater for?

Groups typically commence with a minimum of 10 participants, and there is no specified maximum group size. In the context of secondary schools, we operate on a ratio of 1:10, providing one free place for a teacher for every ten participants.

Who are Rondo Travel?

Lanzarote, the fourth largest of the Canary Islands, holds the prestigious status of being a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Renowned for its consistently warm climate throughout the year, boasting an average annual temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, the island is celebrated for its pristine beaches and captivating volcanic landscape.

During this Geographic Tour, students will have the opportunity to delve into an island forged by intense volcanic eruptions. The itinerary encompasses the exploration of unique landscapes, featuring over 300 volcanic cones, a globally recognized and invaluable ecosystem, expansive mountain ranges, arid deserts, and a diverse 213-kilometer coastline.

The tour typically unfolds across two full-day excursions, allowing participants to uncover the treasures of both the North and South regions of the island. The Timanfaya National Park, a focal point in the South, captivates with its craters, volcanic cones, domes, lava flows, and geothermal activity. Meanwhile, in the North, the Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves) beckons—a 6-kilometer-long lava tube, ranking among the longest volcanic caves globally and standing as one of the most awe-inspiring hidden wonders in the depths.

Complementing the itinerary are optional activities such as a Submarine Safari, a surf lesson, or a camel ride, enhancing the overall experience for the students. Lanzarote, with its otherworldly allure, has the potential to transport students to the feeling of being on an entirely different planet.

At Rondo Travel, our primary focus is comprehending your unique needs and customizing tours to align with your preferences, rather than adhering solely to the tour operator's standards. Be assured that all our tours benefit from financial protection through the ABTA & ATOL schemes. As proud founders of the school travel forum, we stand out as one of the pioneering school tour operators to be honored with the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
